Duane P. Craig
Member / Head of Conflict Scripts USA / Screenwriter
My name is Duane. On the forum, everyone can recognize me as Willy10speed. Its my punk rock name. What can I say?

I can truly say that I have been writing stories of the sci-fi/horror genres since I was about six years of age. Even at such a young age I read the novels and novellas of Stephen King and Philip K. Dick. Still to this day those two are my favorites. They taught me that the imagination is never limited on paper and also that the most important part of any story is character development. Without good characters, be they likeable or easily hated, whatever story that befalls them will more than likely be easily forgotten.

After many years of seeing both of my favorite writers works coming to life on the big screen, I became jealous wanting my own works to gain life. This is what led me to start writing scripts. I now share the dream of millions of others that despite doing what we love, we have to compete fiercely for the power of a produced script. When it boils down to it for me, though, I would probably take a small price to see any of my scripts produced. It really isnt about the amount of money as much as it is having a new job I would enjoy. If I could make enough money to live the same as I do presently then it would be perfect. Maybe, soon.

If I ever get to enter the filmmaking field, in any form of work, I would like to add upon the styles of films that work for directors such as M. Night Shyamalan, David Fincher and Alfred Hitchcock. These guys really amaze me with the way they film suspense, horror and characters.

As for my life and lifestyle, I am merely a Scottish descendant stuck in Memphis, Tennessee area of the United States of America. Here in the land of Elvis Presley I am in a constant state of rock n roll euphoria. It led me to be a produced musician for about eleven years with a band called " TenDaysFromNow. " The band was fun, but the lifestyle isnt for me since I have three children, a good wife and a new house note. I shall still dabble in music but never in an industry led position again. The industry of music is overrated and ultimately breaks your bank. I think the best way is the better way of filmmaking - independently.

Cruel (Short)

An axe wielding "Beast" of a man abducts a teen girl stricken mute since seeing the wrongful death of her friend. One by one, each of seven different people are killed in front of the teen girl as a means of shock therapy to cure her traumatic muteness. The seven victims are each responsible for the cover-up of the Political Official who should have gone to prison for the wrongful death.

Cruel is a silent-horror-film that is just as much a cat-and-mouse thriller. The film is purposely done silent and for good reason per the intelligence of the concept. The film will end with a twist that should solidify this filmmakers vision and firm place into the industry. The entirety of the film will present style over substance. The filmmaker firmly believes that blood and gore scares no one, but that one can present horrors to any audience in the perfect suspensful style such that it can be disturbing and never forgotten - much as Alfred Hitchcock had done so many years before.

Cruel is now the subject of a new independent film directed by Duane P. Craig. Click here to veiw the website CRUEL
