The Second Coming of Jesus Christ

Jesus promised His disciples He would return in their generation. Did He lie? Was He wrong? If Jesus is Lord then He had to return WHEN He said He would return. The timing of the Second Coming determines the nature of it. The New Testament does not speak of two different Second Comings (a third coming) but only one return. The Bible is emphatic that Jesus returned in that generation over 1900 years ago.

When they persecute you in this city, flee to
another. For assuredly, I say to you,
you will not
have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son
of Man comes.
(Matthew 10:23)

For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His
Father with His angels, and then He will reward each
according to his works. Assuredly, I say to you,
there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom. (Matthew 16:27-28)

Assuredly, I say to you,
this generation will by no
means pass away till
all these things take place.(Matthew 24:34

Jesus said to him, It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to
you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven. (Matthew 26:64)

Let not
your heart be troubled; you believe in
God, believe also in Me. In My Fathers house are
many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told
you. I go to prepare a place for
you.  And if I go
and prepare a place for
you, I will come again and
receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may
be also.
(John 14:1-3)

Jesus said to him,
If I will that he remain till I
come, what is that to you?
You follow Me. (John 21:22)

Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of
the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious
fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it
receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts,
for the coming of the
Lord is at hand.
(James 5:7-8)

  For yet
a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. (Hebrews 10:37)

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will
see Him,
even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes
of the earth (literally - "land")
will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
(Revelation 1:7)

Behold,
I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you
have, that no one may take your crown. (Revelation 3:11)

Behold,
I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who
keeps the words of the prophecy of this book. (Revelation 22:7)

   And behold,
I am coming quickly, and My reward is
with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
(Revelation 22:12)

He who testifies to these things says,
Surely I am
coming quickly.
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:20)
