| John Beers of Brushworks Painting recently (5/16/02) painted our hallways (click here to look). His was easily the best bid that we collected for the job, did great work at an unbelievable price. It was my first time in dealing with local contractors that I felt as if we got a great deal. He's located in Hoboken 201.725.1655 -w.j.m. |
| Steve (1-L) recently had his floors re-finished. After seeing the work he had done, Alice and I arranged to have ours done as well. He had the same problem that we did. The polyurethane that was used to coat our floors back in the 80's wasn't holding up. It was coming up in patches. The kitchen in our place was particularly bad. Water damage had warped some of the boards near the dish washer and the high traffic areas had worn right down to the bare wood. Parquet Floors, located on 14th Street, Hoboken charged us $2/sq. ft. to re-finish our entire place. They used a low smell water based finish that dried quickly, allowing us to complete the job over the course of a single weekend. Andrea and Crugie helped us move our stuff around, which was a major plus. Steve also let us store a few things in his place for the weekend which really helped out. -w.j.m. |
| One of the things that needed attention after we moved in was our shower stall. The tile was old and the grout was a mess, cracking in many areas. The initial installation was poor and the tile was boring. After having a few contractors look the job over, we selected Charles Ranne, who owns Ranne Tile. He tore out our old tile work and put in a 6" x 8" custom tile, which minimized our grout maintenance. The job was done quickly, professionally, and on budget.
