Now

Geese spread their spores
across the wheat fields of Kansas

And those leaves
which have brushed the
poison lips of Autumn are busy
telling everyone who passes

While beneath the cold
blouse of evening

Nipples stiffen

(notice)

Deliberate pulse
in the vicinity of denim

Ache of breath
that may die for wanting

In the portals
between seasons memories
are scattered then forgotten

Night of six million stars

Softening of certain bones
calcification of others
