In 2004, Bah Humbug! played for three nights in a very unique setting: outdoors! Only about 2-1/2 miles north of San Antonio (from 1604, take the Nacogdoches Rd. exit, head north on Nacogdoches for 21/2 miles and it will be on the left) There is wonderful shopping village filled with restored homes called The Bracken Village. The village hosts a large variety of gift shops and eating establishments. On one weekend in early December, every year they host a CHARLES DICKENS CELEBRATION! The owners, artists, performers and shopkeepers are all clothed in authentic Victorian attire. Many Carollers are heard singing, a fiddle player strolling the grounds, serenading you as you absorb the yuletide atmos. You can even take a ride on one of three horse-drawn carriages an veiw all the shops. And for the little ones: there are puppet shows! You may even see Father Christmas drop by for some last minute Christmas wishes! But grab your hot cider or hot cocoa and get to the GAZEEBO by 7:30pm, to save your seat because that is when the show begins! BAH HUMBUG! played before an enthusiastic crowd every night! The evening concludes at 9:00ish when all are invited to join the host (Ron Travis,) artists, performers and singers around the Chirstmas tree next to the gazeebo to sing Christmas Carols!!! It really is something special.
On one very special night, as the Narrator was finishing his closing monolog from Dickens most famous novella, a very light mist began to trickle out of the sky and ever so slowly floated down over the stage lights, then a little girl in the front row remarked to Damian "LOOK IT'S SNOWING!" Just moments before "...God Bless us, EVERYONE!" It was a priceless and tender theatrical moment!
