| How Ruud Aston Villa 1 Man United 1 Man United have now conceded five goals in three games. Vassell managed to put Villa in front just after four minutes. Villa managed to hold that lead for a further 91 minutes. Villa's faultless defence managed to concede so late in the game, by an own goal from Alpay put under pressure from Ronny Johnsen. Alex Ferguson still had time to moan, that there should have been 14 minutes added and so proves that there is one rule for Alex Ferguson and another for everyone else. Villa had the greater chances in the first half and hung on to the lead well. It was devasting watching extra time as Man United scored, then referee Graham Barber, blew for time shortly. Kachloul continued to prove to his fans that he is up to the challenge at Villa Park, along with Mellberg who worked well with Alpay, which may cause Gareth Barry to work harder for his place in the team, and, Balaban had a short trial in front of his own fans and managed to impress. Villa did not deserve to concede a goal so late in the game, as they had tried hard thoughout the game. Villa must be the worst team for conceding goals so late in the game.If Villa play like that every game, they are sure to win something this season, maybe the UEFA Cup? | Following my Football Law Why is it that whenever you go to a football match the people who get up in the middle of the game always have seats in the middle of the row, so they have to squeeze past everyone else while they are watching the game? I personally dont understand why a family of four paying around 65 for the tickets would want to miss any of the game. Yet, still, people insist on arriving after kick-off and as they walk up the steps they stop for a brief look at the game and who is playing, during this time people sat behind have missed the action and instead had the view of a selfish supporters head. Then, they take their time looking for their seats and finally have to pass everyone from the end of the row to their seats causing people to stand and obstruct the view for the people behind them. These, are also the type of people who, when a corner or free kick is given by the corner flag, they stand up to see what is going on or when a fight breaks out they make sure they can see, not caring about the people behind. Fifteen minutes from half time, to miss the mad rush of people buying drinks and the traditional meat pie, they go down to the kiosks and buy their food, and come back before the end of the first half. Guess what? One the kids need the toilet and oh dear, second half is under way. Ah well, they must keep the kids happy so they take their oldest child down to the toilets and come back two minutes later to find the other one needs to go. The game is heating up and the score is tied, yet, the home side looks better after their team talk at half time. However, all this family can think about is what the traffic will be like when 30,000 supporters all want to get home at the same time. There is an answer for this family and that is to leave ten minutes before the whistle is blown to be able to miss the traffic and get home for their dinner of fish and chips. What a game, the first eighty minutes, or what could be seen of it, was very relaxed and at a one one draw. However, the last ten minutes the home side pushed and pushed and managed to score in the eighty-second minute after a great cross to be headed in. Then, to more amazement in the first minute of extra time a penalty was awarded after some pushing in the penalty box. Final score 3v1, and a superb game. The minutes silence at the beginning of the game was a huge success there were the few exceptions that had their mobile switched on. The unfortunate family only managed to see the away goal as they arrived late and missed the first strike of the game which saw the ball going into the back of the net and then had left well before the winning goals were scored. The moral of the story is to arrive on time, sit still, and leave when the final whistle has been blown. COME ON YOU VILLA BOYS! |
| Silence Out Plays Game Aston Villa 0 Sunderland 0 The minute silence before the game worked well, each player holding a single rose and then placing it near the goal. This was a sad start to a poor game. There weren't many chances, however Villa looked most likely to score. The only changes for Villa was Ginola for Merson and Bosko for Dublin, who when came on did little. Villa have played four games this season and are unbeaten, however, 3 games have been draws. From this game Villa can take away one point and a clean sheet. Thursday sees Villa playing Varteks, in the UEFA Cup. Also, they have been drawn to play Reading in the Worthington Cup.
