Rules for Trading

A Quick Note

These rules apply primarily to CD-R trading and are in no way intended to turn off any potential traders or to make anyone feel like they are being left out of ‘the loop’. I have spent so much energy, time, and money collecting shows that it makes no sense for me to lower my standards in order for you to get the show(s) you want. Quite simply, if you see something below that doesn’t work for you, move on to someone else’s trading page. Enough said…

Types of Trades

·          1:1   I am primarily interested in trading even-up; that is one disc for one disc, 2 for 2 and so on.

·          2:1   These types of trades are a form of profiteering and are not supported by most traders.

·          b+p  Occasionally, I will have the time to do b+p’s and will make a note of it on my home page.

Audio Sources

·          Currently, I am ONLY interested in shows with known sources (mics/recorders) and lineage (analog to DAT to CD conversions, etc.) Exceptions are shows that do not have known sources and lineage.

·          Absolutely NO MP3 sourced material! I can’t say this strongly enough. I’ve been burned and it’s not fun…

·          I will accept some shows in the .SHN file format, but please check with me first.

Blank Media

·          I use high-quality, brand name blank media such as Mitsui, Klone, and Kodak and expect anyone else to do the same also. In some instances, I will also accept TDK, Sony, Imation, and a few others, but please let me know what you plan on using before we finalize any trade.

Making Copies

·          Exact Audio Copy (EAC) has become the de-facto standard for extracting discs to computer hard drives. Please be honest with me and let me know if you are using another application or a stand-alone burner.

·          EAC is also commonly using for burning discs, but Cdrwin may be more popular. There are other good programs out there, so just let me know what you use. DAO only!

·          I prefer burning at 4x but some burners do just fine at higher speeds.

·          NEVER write on the discs you burn for me. Attach a post-it note with relevant info.

Shipping CD’s

·          Please do not send in jewel cases. They will cost more in postage and almost always break.

·          Use paper sleeves to protect the discs and make sure that the discs are secured in the sleeves

·          Always use padded mailers! Without this protection, the discs are likely to arrive damaged.

·          If you are shipping from overseas, please use airmail and I will do the same.

Communicaton

·          Although I’ve listed this last, it is probably the most important item. Once a trade has been agreed upon, frequent communication is vital to the success of the trade and possible future trades. Please do everything possible to ensure that we stay in touch until we both have our discs in hand.
