Rules and Regulations
USS Okuda

=1=
Character Originality
Your character must not be an established Star Trek character, originality is a must. (ex: No Jean-Luc Picard, Ben Sisko, Tom Paris, etc)

=2=
Past Ranks
Do NOT give yourself a rank and/or past ranks held by your character.
The Commanding Officer will determine that based on your application.

=3=
Posting Requirements
Unless you've made other plans and have notified your CO, it is necessary that you post (at a bare minimum) once every three weeks. Failing to do so will result in the removal of your character from the SiMM. Posting once every three weeks may keep you onboard however, but the more you post the more likely you are to be promoted.

=4=
Application Form
Applications should be completed fully. Not doing so is your choice, but the better the application the better the rank and position onboard.

=5=
Cursing
No cursing (beyond damn or hell, etc).
Some people will get offended.

=6=
Relationships
Kisses and hugs are welcome, but overly sexual posts will not be tolerated. It is common for SiMMs to have younger players, as well as people who tend to get offended easily. Keep things within good taste.

=7=
Mission Beginning
The CO of the vessel is responsible for starting the ship off on a new mission. There is only one CO on each vessel and you are not it, so do not start off a new mission, doing so will inevitably cause a story split. If you have a mission idea send it to the CO and it will be considered. We cannot emphasize this enough.

=8=
Be Realistic
This is in the Star Trek (©Paramount) universe!
Triple-sized Nebula-Class Starships do not appear and release fighters in the middle of a battle! Post accordingly. Creativity's great, but don't be ridiculous.

=9=
Story Splits
Keep in line with the current plot and try to keep up with where the other
characters on the ship are. Story splits wreak havoc when a single person is in two places at once.

=10=
Character Limitations
One player can only have 1 character on any given ship, and a total of 5 in Bravo Fleet. This isn't to limit you, it's so you won't get over loaded and new players
have a chance at the 'good' positions.

=11=
Most Important Rule
HAVE FUN! This is a game after all.

Posting Guidelines

ON/OFF Feature

To know when we're actually posting, and making comments in between,
we use an ON/OFF format. Everything after an OFF: means that it is a
comment, not apart of the story. Everything after an ON: means that it's
the actual post.

Generally, posts start with an OFF, some comments, an ON, then the post, and
then another OFF where there can be more comments (If there are no beginning or ending comments, OFFs are not needed). You should sign your post at the very end, after the last OFF, Signing your post is simply writing your name, rank, position, and ship.

Thinking, Speaking and Action Writing.

Posts are written in a script format. That means, you probably won't be using "said" too often. When writing an action your character does, enclose it between two * symbols. (However different people use different methods such as ::)
Like This:

Duck: Aye sir. *Hits a few controls, bringing up a readout.* All systems are online.

You may also use a brief paragraph to describe a series of actions that
would not include spoken text, but since we try to follow a script style
format in this, we keep Dialogue in script style. A paragraph of action
would be as follows:

**Duck backs off from Vash but still doesn't want to leave, He wanders into Alanea's office and looks around. The flowers on her desk from their wedding have wilted but are still pretty. Duck sits in her chair and fidgets with the items around her desk. After a while a nurse peeks around the doorway.

To show tapping a commbadge, the =/\= symbol is often used.
You can also use +Tap+ *TAPS* or +TAPS+.
Like This:

Duck: =/\= Engineering, what is your status? =/\=

=3=
Locations and time.

Locations and time are enclosed between << >>.
Like This:

<<USS Okuda, Bridge>>
or
<<Later that day, in sickbay>>
or
<<USS Okuda, 0900 hours>>

etc.. You get the point.

=4=
A word of warning!

You may not decide to change the actions of someone else's character
by predating your posts!!! (ex: You can't decide you really don't want
to have dinner with Duck and predate a post sending your
character on a shuttle mission off ship! That is destructive to the flow
of the story. You CAN write a post that explains why your character
cannot remain where they are. For example if Captain Duck wanted to
escape a formal dinner, but found himself stuck in one he might post
that his girlfriend became ill and he had to leave
(Who knows, he might even bribe the CMO for something like that! )
