Collingtree Rangers F.C
Formed 2001
Collingtree Rangers were founded in August 2001 by James Harris, Simon Newman, Peter Basham and Simon Roberts, whilst sipping lager in their local pub "the Collingtree". Harris and Basham began talks with the Northamptonshire Alliance to instate them in their next season, and within days, were entered into Division 2.
The Quartet put a squad together made up of locals from the pub and friends of friends, but were unlucky to be relegated in their first season.
In their second season, the squad lost manager Simon Roberts and Chairman Simon "squiddy" Newman took the reigns and the team enjoyed a more consistent season finishing runner up in the Divisional Cup and 5th in Division 4.
In 2003 The squad were strengthened by the arrival of no less than 5 summer signings, and the season started brightly with straight wins in both league and cup competitions all the way through to Christmas, putting The tree in the driving seat. Many expected an illusive treble, but as the season took its toll on the players, Colly crashed out of all 3 cups in the quarter final. The league title was to go down to the wire too, and it was fianlly decided on the last day of the season when a draw at home to Longboat reserves secured Collingtree the Division 4 championship and their first piece of silverware.
This year, with the newly formed reserves side, Collingtree hope for further success....
