Breed Judge: Ms Jasna Kovacevic (formally Jalsevac) 'Roughin Collies' (Croatia)

Jasna and Triad Midnight Rani

Jasna started with collies in 1981. This very special breed was responsible for the development of her interest in showing, breeding and finally judging as well. The decision about registration of kennel name Triad in 1991 was based on serious breeding plans encouraged by meeting Mia Ejerstad and the 'Steadlyns'. 5 champions were bred out of 18 litters, and three champions were handled to their title in Triad ownership. Besides Croatia, Triad collies have found homes in Italy,Slovenia, Russia, South Africa, Germany and Belgium. Jasna is a FCI approved international judge for all British sheepdog breeds. So far, she has judged in Croatia, Slovenia and Germany and is looking forward with great excitement to her 2009 judging appointments in Australia and Finland.

Property Judge: Mrs Val Morrow 'Valworrom Collies' (Australia)

Val with Ch. Valworrom Miami Vice

Val first became involved with her chosen breed, the Rough Collie, in the 1960’s. For more than 30 years she successfully bred and exhibited Collies under the Valworrom prefix. Her dogs produced many champions including Best in Show winners at both specialty and all breeds shows.  In the late 1970’s and during the 1980’s, there were many show ring successes with Collies from other kennels that carried Valworrom bloodlines.
Although she has not bred or exhibited for many years, Val has maintained her interest in this beautiful breed by assisting with the Dogs NSW Judges Training scheme.  Val has given the lecture to aspiring judges on the Rough Collie for the past several schemes and also assesses the trainee judges both at field nights and practical examinations.

In 1986 Val was ANKC approved to judge Group 4 (Hounds).  Groups 5 (Working), 3 (Gundogs), 1 (Toys) and 7 (Non Sporting) followed, and, in 2002, she was approved to judge Groups 2 (Terriers) and 6 (Utility). Attaining these final 2 groups gave her All Breeds status. Her judging appointments have taken her to every state of Australia and also New Zealand, the USA, Canada & the Philippines.

Obedience  Judges:

CCD, Novice & Veterans, Agility : Mr Darryl Turley (NSW)

I have been involved with obedience training for over 44 years. I commenced my judging career in 1986 and became a full panel judge in 1992. I have been an elected member of Dogs NSW Obedience and Tracking Trials Committee since 1991. I was also a member of the Obedience and Tracking Judges Committee for eighteen years.

I am presently Chief Instructor with Central Coast D.O.T.C. and as an accredited Canine Good Citizen Instructor, have been one of those instrumental in introducing an eight week training program based on reward training. This program is geared for the majority of the Central Coast people who wish to train their dog to be a better member of society. Prior to moving to Gosford, I was actively involved, both as an instructor and committee member, with Broken Hill All Breeds Dog Training Club and Illawarra Dog Training Club.

My wife and I have owned Labradors, Golden Retrievers and Border Collies and have obtained UD titles with seven of them and CDX with two of them. We have also gained Australian Champions with two dogs.

My Border Collie gained his Excellent Titles in both Agility and Jumping before retiring. I am presently doing some UDX work with him.

I am an active instructor and judge and have judged obedience at the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane Royal Shows and Obedience and Agility at the Perth Classic and Darwin Royal and agility and obedience at Singapore.

Obedience - Open, UD & UDX; Jumping & Veterans: Andrea (Meg) Yerbury (NSW)

Our family joined an obedience club in 1964 as we had acquired an unregistered German Shepherd and intended to be responsible dog owners.  As we gained knowledge we became aware that there was more to training than just Sunday morning classes.  In 1968 a registered German Shepherd joined the family and the following year my first Golden Retriever and my introduction to Gundog Obedience as it was then called.  In the 70’s I accepted committee positions within the club, took part in the Sydney Royal Easter Show obedience demonstrations and became involved in tracking.

In the 80’s I gained my licences to judge Novice and Open Obedience and Gundog Obedience (now called Gundog Working Test).  In the 90’s I gained my Utility Obedience and Agility licences.  During this time I was a member of the Agility Judges Examination committee and the NSW State Obedience Titles committee.

Since 2000 I have been a member of the Obedience and Tracking Judges Committee and I am current member of the Obedience and Tracking Committee.  With the introduction of the new ANKC rules in 2005 I was able to judge CCD and UDX classes.  Last year I qualified as a Dances with Dogs Judge.

I have enjoyed judging in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, the Australian Capital Territory and Queensland as well as New South Wales.
