Post-Op Journal.....
Let the Journey Begin :)
February 16, 2002 - (Saturday)
Just dropping a quick note today, to say all is still well with the food/water.  I can't believe that the sticture caused me such trouble.  I am eating fine, and wondering if I should try beef.  I really miss it and always am thinking "hmmmm think I could eat a little beef now?"   lol...I love my burgers.  Even a half a burger with a little ketchup and onion and cheese (can't forget that extra protein...lol) would be so tasty right now.  I might try that when I go to Florida next week.  Hoping that I get to go to Disney while I'm there and eat at some of the yummy restaurants.  House of Blues at the Disney Marketplace has the best Catfish bites with a romulade sauce...OMG, I LOVE that!!!  I realize that my consumption is so limited, but it does let me feel somewhat normal now to be able to eat and not be running to the bathroom.  Even a few bites of some food is so enjoyable.  I'm not looking to pig out like I used to, just to get a little taste is fabulous.

Side Note; I guess watching the Food Network's marathon "The Best Of" is making me hungry.  Well, when I finish up my water, I better get some protein in me!!!

I'm catching up on Road Rules/Real World Challenge this weekend also.  Since the Olympics, I've missed all my favorite shows, include RR/RW Challenge that was on Monday night.  I don't know who got voted off this week and just wondering if it's Holly and/or Chadwick.  I hate people who take a power play right off the bat, so I'm going against them from the get-go.  I guess we'll see...it starts at 5:30 p.m. Can't wait.  I'm rewatching the hurricane one (who says I'm bored)....lol..

Anyway, will write again soon (when there's something to report), but all is fine now since I can eat/drink :)......till next time...

February 18, 2002 - (Monday)

I don't have a lot to say today, but for those of you post-ops that might wander by my website on occasion, I have some questions.  At 2 months post-op, how much could you eat?  My amount of food that I can eat at one sitting is so limited.  I just tried to take the tunafish off 1/2 of 1/2 of a sub and was able to eat about 3 forkfuls and that's it (and not big forkfuls at that!).  That is so little.  I had to get up and leave the sandwich behind (no I am not eating the bread, only the tuna).  I went out for breakfast yesterday (my first attempt at eating out since the surgery) and I ordered a cheese/ham omlette.  I had about 3 forkfuls (and not even full forks, just a little bit) and that was it.  I think I should have asked them to cook it without butter, it may have been the butter taste I didn't like...see how times are different??  I used to LOVE and ADORE butter....

I have not been throwing up at all, the foaming problem and the food getting stuck problem is gone (thank goodness) but I really can't eat a whole-bunch at a sitting.  I dream of being able to eat out, but at this point I really can't do it.  First of all, it's just a waste of money, since I really don't like reheating food -- I just hate leftovers.  I can sit and eat 2 slices of cheese (swiss) at one sitting, no problem, but anything else has been difficult.  I am going away this week on vacation and I just so wished to be able to eat out like a normal human but I doubt that's going to happen!!  I guess I'll go have a few slices of cheese to get in some protein.  My weight loss has slowed a bit (approx 3 pounds a week -- which isn't too shabby) but I need to focus on the protein so my health doesn't deteriorate.  I'm so glad that I have made friends with water..we are best buddies right now and I'm excellent with my vitamins everyday...I just want to put my best foot forward for the coming months to maximize this learning experience.

I've become such a big complainer/whiner and all I talk about is what I can't eat, what's not setting good on my stomach, what I'd LOVE to eat, etc. etc. etc.  I am so
B-O-R-I-N-G!!!  I hope I get some feedback on this issue....if it's just to be patient, I will do just that.

Till next time...

March 4, 2002 - (Monday)
I'm just back from vacation and turning on my St. Patrick's Day index page.  I had a fabulous time on vacation, ate a little, had trouble eating a lot, but still had fun!  Flights were good, was a bit scared of it, but I survived.

Will write again later today or tomorrow..just wanted to update my index...

Till later..
