YYH is short for Yu Yu Hakusho, my favorite anime in the world. It's plot is clever and is definately a must-see if you haven't already. It all starts out as a Junior High deliquent, Yusuke Urameshi, when his life turns upside down. On the strange occasion that he saves a boy from an oncoming car, he dies and sees the world from a whole new prespective. Since his death was a complete waste, Spirit World's leader, Koenma, and pippy worker, Botan, work to give him is life back. He must raise a golden egg, and whatever hatches from it either guides him to his life again, or it will devour him itself, depending on how his true acts are like. But a fire threatens to burn his house down--and his body to go with that. In a desperate rescue mission, Keiko, alifetime friend of Yusuke's, goes in to save his body in the hopes he'll return. BUt she gets caught in the fire and had no hopes of escaping. Until Yusuke learned he could sacrifice his eggfor Keiko's survival--and of course he does it. Later getting out of the fire with help from Kuwabara (Or Kuwabaka if you'd like^^), a long time enemy or Yusuke's, she explains that she beleives Yusuke's still coming back. But not. But Koenma felt his acts were unlike him and gives Yusuke another chance. So yeah, yeah, they go through an ordeal that restores Yusuke, and makes a deal about it. Heh^^;; That's when he came back to life where it went completely nuts. He became a Spirit Detective, of obviously Spirit World, tracking down demons who have gone astray. His first mission: to stop 3 demons who stole from the vault of Spirit World itself. Names are: Hiei, Kurama, and Gouki. Seems Gouki had a taste for souls, and Hiei had a taste for power over the Human World. But Kurama had his own purposes and plain out left them. Yusuke beat Gouki in 2 days and his next target was Kurama. But Kurama did not want a fight, only to spill his secret out. His mother was dying in the hospital. Yes, he was a demon, but he had turned human. His mother raised him and taught him to be the best he could be. He tried to abandon her but couldn't. Guess you could say he's a momma's boy now. He spilled about his demon life and everything. He wanted someone to bear his soul, but when his mother entered a critical state and death was nearing, he chose to give his life for hers. But in a quick thinking Yusuke jumped in to help, and told Kurama there's nothing worse than a mom living when her son is dead for her. Kurama was sorta speechless, when the wish was granted, and left them both lying on the ground. But Kurama suddenly got up and ran off to his mother. And Yusuke was still on the ground....When Botan came to make sure everything was alright, he sprung up and said that was stupid what he just did cuz HIS mom would be sad if he died, right? Kurama found the doctors saying his mother was going to be okay. With a touching ending, we enter the final fight with Hiei, which lasts for a while... Hiei kidnapped Keiko, Yusuke gets mad, almost gets himself killed when Kurama comes back and helps him and everything turns out a-okay. Soon after Yusuke is trained with Genkai, an old psycic needing an aprentice to carry on her abilities. But when he completes the training he is faced defeating the Saint Beasts, and needs help from the spiritually aware Kuwabara, but has special guests, Kurama and Hiei, who then accompany him on his missions for the rest of the series. This is a well thought out anime with great laughs to go with it. The characters and personalities go great with it too.
