Canadian Coins

All prices are in US dollars, all coins are conservatively graded on a technical basis. (ie. eye appeal will not affect grade)
Page is under construction, many coins yet to be added. Please ask if you're looking for anything or have any questions. Thank you.
1 CENT       5 CENTS       10 CENTS (until 1952)       25 CENTS       50 CENTS       1 DOLLAR       2 DOLLARS

Note on "PL" (prooflike) coins: My prooflike coins are actually coins from the prooflike sets ("uncirculated") as issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. They represent coins struck on specially prepared dies and blanks. Prooflike is a term often misused, and in the United States has been adopted as an adjective to mean any circulation-strike coin with mirrored surfaces.

Prices in brackets: Coin should be obtainable within 7 days at the said price.
"melt": coin, if available, it is sold for bullion+25c. Example: If silver=6.00 US/oz, then a VG 1963 50c is sold for 0.300*6.00+0.25=2.05

Edward VII KM#9 St. Edward Crown .925 AG
The 1902 and 1902H 5c have the St. Edward crown at the top of the reverse, while the remaining silver 5-cent issues have the Imperial crown. It was originally intended that all Edwardian 5c would have the Imperial crown, but due to time pressures, the change was not made until the following year.

George V KM#16 "godless" legend .925 AG
By oversight, the obverse legend on 1911 coins omitted "Dei Gratia" (latin: "[ruling] by the grace of God"). This resulted in public outrcy. Dei Gra[tia] was added to the legend in 1912.

The United Nations was founded in 1945 to serve as an authority to maintain world peace by means of collective security, which was lacking for its predecessor, the League of Nations. Canada has participated in the most U.N. peacekeeping missions of all countries, starting from the first one deployed to ease tensions during the Suez Canal crisis (~1956), which was suggested by Canadian Prime Minister Lester Pearson, who won the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. The 1996 commemerative $1 coin commemerated both the U.N.'s 40th anniversary, and Canada's commitment to world peace. The reverse features the Peacekeeping Monument in Ottawa.

At the 2002 Winter Olympic games, a "loonie" ($1 coin) was placed beneath the center of the ice at the arena by the (Canadian) workers who were preparing the ice sheet. Canada won both Men's and Women's Gold medal games in hockey. A hockey-mad nation rejoiced and the "loonie" has since become legendary, now residing in the Hall of Fame! As a result, the Royal Canadian Mint immediately struck a "centre ice" loonie commemerating the event (not for circulation). In 2004, the RCM struck "lucky loonies" for both circulation and not (ie. proof/FDC). Eatch Canadian athlete competing at the 2004 Athens olympics was given one for good luck.
