POINTS OF INTEREST HEHE ROCK - historicall marker on Oroville to Chesaw road 9480. Indian legend about the rock. OLD MOLSON MUSEUM "GHOST TOWN" - about 15 miles northeast of oroville on road 9480 turning left onto road 9485 up Mud Lake Valley to Molson. Pioneer tools, equipment for farming and mining, and buildings. Museum is open 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. during the summer months. NORTH CASCADES SMOKEJUMPER BASE - 4 miles north of Twisp on County road 9129. Birthplace of Forest Service smokejumper program. Visitors welcome June through September. GREAT GOAT WALL - Yosemite-like glacier wall rising 2,000 feet above the Methow Valley floor. Seen from Hart's Pass road 5400; access from North Cascades Highwa 20 at Mazama. LOST RIVER CANYON - outstanding geological area. A challenging hike through a deeply cut gorge; access from North Cascades Highway 20 at Mazama and travel on road 5400. PIPESTONE CANYON - unusual geological area on Washington State Department of Game land; southeast of Winthrop off County road 1624 near Campbell Lake. HART'S PASS - an unexcelled vista of the North Cascades is seen from 7,500 feet Slate Peak. The graveled Hart's Pass road in the Methow Valley gives access to Slate Peak, and is usually snow-free from early July to late September. The narrow road takes one to the highest point to which one can drive in Washington State. The road is closed to all size trailers.
