The Chinese International captain Zhang Enhua forced his Chinese side Dalian Shide into letting him go on loan to an English club. Zhang choose Grimsby over Manchester City and joined The Mariners for 3 months and scoring 3 goals which is an achivment for a Town Defender. Zhang is now a Town Legend as all fans loved him, when he finally settled in after 2 awful first games for Grimsby. Zhang is now back in China and will play in the forthcoming World Cup in Japan and South Korea.  He was one of the most skilled plyers in our 2000/2001 squad.
Knut Anders Fostervold

Knut joined Grimsby midway through the 2000/2001 season from Norweigan Premiership champions Molde FK. Knut is a former International for Norway but has not played since the World Cup 98 qualifiers. Knut made a huge influence at Grimsby but it did not last long, Lennie Lawrence who was hoping to sign him had to give in when Knut got badly injured. It was even that bad that Lennie cancelled his loan contract and sent him back to Norway for good.
Ashley Fickling

Ashley joined from the youth team in the 1995/1996 season and was sold to Scunthorpe just after the start of the 1997/1998 season. He is till with Scunthorpe enjoying first team football with former boss Brian Laws. Ashley was released in 2001 and signed for Scarborough.
Paul Futcher

Paul is a well respected manager now and was a well respected footballer. Paul joined Grimsby from Scunthorpe in the 1989/1990 season and left for Scarborough a few years later. Paul was a strong determined defensive midfielder who is now the manager at Confrence club Stalybridge Celtic.
Joby Gowshall

Joby joined Grimsby in the 1994/1995 season from the youth team. After 2 poor seasons with the club he was released on a free transfer and was snapped up by third division Lincoln City. After one year at Lincoln he was released yet again on a free transfer this time being snapped up by Unibond Premiership side Boston United. Joby helped with Bostons promotion to The Confrence but was sold at the start of the 2001/2002 season back to another local Unibond side Gainsborough Trinity.
Peter Handyside

The Former Scotland U21 International joined Grimsby from the youth squad in the 1992/1993 season. Peter stayed with Grimsby up until the start of the 2001/2002 season when he joined Divsion 2 side Stoke City. Peter is a town legend and was one of the fans many favourate players, he formed the Division 2 defence of the season in 1997/1998 with John McDermott,Mark Lever,Tony Gallimore,Kevin Jobling,Graham Rodger and Danny Butterfield. Peter is truly missed.
