History & Social Studies
At Southern Wesleyan University, you will study culture and beliefs from a Christian perspective as part of teh Social Sciences Division. The mission of the history and social studies program is to provide a broad base introduction of history that includes a Christian worldview. The program focuses on the study of the great civilizations of the world and specified areas of historical inquiry. It enables students to pursue history in the traditional mode as a study of historical records. The program will emphasize critical thinking, reading, and writing, as well as helping develop skills in research and analysis. Students in History and Social Studies have an easy option for combinations of minors or even a second major, which provides flexibility in career choices and a sound foundation for work in the 21st century in a variety of fields. The History and Social Studies majors offer invaluable preparation for students looking for careers in social work, government, international relations, public historian, archivist, or teacher in the school system.
Southern Wesleyan provides a unique academic, cultural and spiritual environment for our students. Our small size enables our faculty and staff to really get to know our students. Our faculty members will teach and advise you. Because the class sizes are small they will get to know you and your goals and strengths.
