Balboa High JROTC
JROTC is an elective program designed to provide a mult-disciplined program of instructions for high school students, which will enhance leadership, teamwork and citizenship skills. The objective of the Army JROTC Program are to develop in each student:

* Good citizenship and patriotism
* Self-reliance, leadership and responsiveness
* A cooperative spirit and the skills needed to work as a team member
* Ability to think logically and to acquire oral and written communication skills
* An appreciation of the importance of physical fitness in maintaining good health
* An appreciation of America's National Heritage

The benefits of the JROTC program include:
* Elective credits toward graduation each semester the program is successfully completed
* Assistance in competing for Army four-year college scholarships and appointments to any of the military academies,        advanced placement in College ROTC programs and higher pay grades if enlisting in the military services following          graduation from high school.

Opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities including  the following; color guard, competitive drill team and rifle marksmanship competitions.

Opportunity to attend a JROTC Summer Camp at a major US Army Installatioon at little or no cost to the student.

The Curriculum is flexible and includes such topics as  the spirit of American citizenship, first aid, map reading, teamwork, leadership and communication. Certified school corporation teachers who are also retired US Army Officers and noncommissioned officers teach the courses in military science.

The course is taught by Note: There is no obligation for any military service by a student as a result of taking JROTC while in high school. There is no cost or fees  for students enrolled in the ROTC program with exception of summer camp.
