About My
        Tiels
It all started with Lenox the lutino. I wanted go get a mate for him. Soon I had 14 cockatiels before I knew what happened. In the future this page will have lots of pictures of all my tiels. Thanks to Kodak we will all have to wait for that. I just found out that one of my young pairs is both boys. Chicken Little and Sir Runt. You will understand why they are called that when you see their picture.

I feed them seed and pellets and fresh fruits and veggies every day. I don't plan to get birds who like live food. I HATE bugs!!!

I remember the days when I used to be able to count the number of birds I own with one hand. Now I have a cockatiel Zoo. I try to give them all individual attention every day.

Most of my tiels are friendly, but a few I got from breeders who did not handfeed them. I give these birds names like Prissy and Her Highness (those are my two lutino pearl/fallow sisters). I have a set of garden gloves I put on when I take them out. Otherwise they will hang from my hand by their beaks.

I love to handfeed my babies. You can always tell when they're hungry because they sound like a rock in a meat grinder. Sir Runt the whiteface male is 10 weeks old and will not give up his formula. I guess I will be handfeeding him along with his children
.
It is important to reward your tiel with some of his/her favorite treats when they do something cute, or when you want them to know how much you appreciate them.

Not every tiel will eat the treats that are good for them, some are smarter than others. I reward my birds with healthy treats.
Whatever you do, DON'T give your birds treats that are bad for them! Some treats that aren't good for us but taste good are even worse for birds. They need to get the most vitamins they can out of their daily calorie intake.
I love to give my tiels lots of toys to play with. I put in mirrors, bells, swings, chewable rings, ladders... They LOVE straws. They play straw hockey with each other. It confuses them when you tie the straw down with a wire. They are busy for hours!
Cockatiels don't get along with many other animals. Keep them away from cats, dogs, bears, elephants, big birds, monkeys, boars, and other animals that look like they would be harmful to birds.
