On this page I will give a couple of my own views on why this occurs.
First I will try to explain a little about how male inmates find, meet and woo women while in prison, and then give the reasons why I think so many women fall for incarcerated men.
HOW INMATES FIND WOMEN
Many of the inmates have wives or girlfriends when they enter prison. The ones that don't, usually find female companionship in one of several different ways.
1) Get the female's name and address from a friend, either on the inside or the outside. Once they get this information they will send an introduction letter to the unsuspecting female. Many times this grows into a relationship that often leads to sexually explicit letters, quarterly packages being sent to the inmate from the female and, of course, money being deposited to the inmates trust account or sent to family members of other inmates for drugs or other reasons.
2) Through pen-pal organizations that cater to inmates.
3) Through pleas on internet web sites that publish inmate's information.
There are many other ways that inmates find women to start relationships with but I think that these are the most common.
REASONS WHY WOMEN FALL FOR INMATES
The reason, I feel that women fall in love with inmates has two contributing compenents.
1) They don't have any healthy relationships with males, either thier father or moral young men.
2) The only way inmates can communicate with these women is through thier words, either spoken over the phone or written through letters. Inmates are very accomplished in flowery talk and making women feel like queens with their words, and they realize that to get anything out of these women they have to lift them up so they feel very special, and the inmates are very good at what they do.
Many times the kind of males these women know are gang bangers who spend most of their time with the homies until they need to be serviced. The women who fall in love with the inmates don't realize that when they are released from prison most of the time they go back to the old life of bangin with the homies and once in a while hook up for a good time. So the women who fall in love with inmates are hoping for something better not realizing that they are just heading for another dead end relationship where they will be used for financial, physical and emotional support.
