Sample Agenda

At 6:00 P.M., The meeting is Called to Order by the President or Designee
Introductions: all around the room
Toastmaster
The genial host who conducts the entire program for the evening. The Toastmaster introduces the participants so that the audience is prepared to listen with rapt attention. During the week prior to the meeting, the Toastmaster contacts all those on the agenda to confirm their participation, get the title of their speech, and discuss their introduction. The Toastmaster should arrange for the duplication and distribution of agendas to all the meeting participants.
Timer
Trains members to express their thoughts within the given time interval. The Green signal indicates that the minimum target has been hit, Yellow indicates the midpoint, and Red indicates that it is time to wrap it up. Just like traffic lights, these signals stay posted until the next signal goes up. For our visually impaired members, audible signals are given.
Table Topics Master
The purpose of Table Topics is to give all members the opportunity to speak with the added challenge of thinking on their feet. Priority is given to those members who do not have an assigned role, members with a non-speech role, guests who wish to participate, and if time allows, members who are presenting a prepared speech.
Table Topics Participants
Thinking on their feet, participants reply to the Table Topics Master with the goal of speaking extemporaneously for at least 1 minute and not more than 2 minutes. Participation by guests is welcome, but is not mandatory.
Speakers
The typical meeting features three speakers who have prepared speeches of approximately 5 to 7 minutes in length. To assist the Toastmaster and the VP Education, the week before the meeting, Speakers should complete the Biography and Speech Title form. Speakers receive both a written and oral evaluation from the assigned evaluator.
Evaluators
Having listened attentively to the speeches, the evaluators note what strengths the speaker has and areas upon which the speaker might try to improve. This Tell and Sell evaluation should be between two and three minutes. At the request of the speaker, there may be an "open evaluation" where the entire audience is invited to give feedback.
General Evaluator
Assisted by the Timer and the "Um / Ah" Counter, the General Evaluator motivates the Toastmaster, Table Topics Master, Table Topics Participants, and the Evaluators by providing constructive suggestions for improvement and acknowledgement of what was done well.
Toastmaster returns contol of the meeting to the Presiding Officer
Presiding Officer
Announcements, Old Business, and New Business
Good of the Order is where everyone gets to make a comment on what went well during the meeting and to make a suggestion for improvement.
