Match Report :     Horsea Dragons 2 v 11 Coal Exchange

Another demolition of Horsea Dragons this week.  They only turned up with eight players this time so we let them have two of our subs.

We made hard work of things in the first half, until the scoring was opened with a superb low strike from Danny (if I say so myself!!)  Matt scored and they also got one before half time.

After the break the wind favoured the mighty Coalie and we went on to score nine more goals.  Four from Keith (including a delicate lob) to take him ahead in the golden boot race.  His closer challenger Bran only got one.  Lee scored a delicate header, Jimmer scored with a cracking shot after a smart turn, Geoff banged one in  and the ball bounced off Scholesy's a**e when he wasn't looking for his second goal of the season.

Next game in two weeks time against....Horsea Dragons at home!!
Match Report :   9/03/2002     Coal Exchange 5 v 3 Horsea Dragons

We expected another easy game against Horsea Dragons this week,  but it didn't turn out like that.  They had rounded up some new players and we played like a bunch of lemons.  Jimmer scored a cracking long range drive to get the scoring under way,  but they equalised and then took the lead!!  We had good pressure,  but couldn't find that final touch, until Geoff snatched our second.  They scored again before a galloping Scholesy scored a sensational individual goal after charging through from the defence.

The last ten minutes were rather nervous but we managed to score two more goals...a penalty from Sladie and a cracker from Jez to seal the win.

Next game in two weeks time against....Sharky's away!!
End Of Season Report :   16/04/2002

Oscar Owers Fair Play Cup Final      Coal Exchange 0 v 2 FSL

The last game of the season was the first ever Cup Final for the Coal Exchange.  The Oscar Owers fair PLay Cup Final.  Despite a valiant effort in front of a huge crowd we lost 2 v 0 to Fleet Support Ltd.

The league season ended with the manager away on yet another holiday, so the skipper (Scholesy) took over and did a fantastic job for a few games.  Unfortunately we lost the last league game and finished second bottom of the Division.  The Divisions are being re-organised next year so this is not too significant.  We also entered the Supplementary Cup, a Champion's League type competition with two leagues and a final.  We performed well, but failed to get through to the final.

Overall it has been another Topsy Turvy season.  Some excellent results,  and some unlucky ones.  Here's to next season being a big one!!
