7th grade -
August is a great month.  We will be exploring different literary devices used in styles of poetry.  Students will be writing their own poems and at the end of the unit, will publish a poetry pamphlet with at least one original poem or short story from each student.

8th grade -
August is a very busy month for 8th grade.  They will begin by identifying computer parts and components.  They will assemble a computer and load it with an operating system.  After locating device drivers and upgrading units, they will install secondary software that allows them the functionality to perform assigned tasks.  When this process is completed, they will start their own toy company.  When completed not only will the students have learned about computers, but also about running a business, identifying a marketable toy, constructing a prototype, and creating a commercial to market their creation.
