7th & 8th grade SPOTLIGHT
 |
Let me begin by thanking
you for the opportunity to teach your children. I am
extremely excited by the untapped potential that these
classes possess. Throughout this year we will have the
opportunity to participate in many competitions.
Please understand that some of these competitions may
include regional, state, or international levels. In
any local competition, you will be notified so that you may
attend if you choose to do so. Some parents may even
be drafted to be judges in these events. |
 |
Numerous
opportunities await your child in the SPOTLIGHT
program. This year will be like no other. As
of now, we are scheduled to compete in no less than ten
tournaments. These tournaments are designed for all
students in every form of expression. There will be
the traditional chess tournament along with knowledge
bowl, but this is where we branch off. We are
currently forming not only a debate team, but a scrabble
team as well. This year we will also engage in a
Science Fair and a Spelling Bee. We will have at least one competition
this year for each one of these. That brings our
tournaments to six. These tournaments are designed
for auditory and visual learners. Kinesthetic
learners will be competing in four tournaments as
well. Two tournaments will be scheduled for "Junkbox
Wars", one for Rube Goldberg, and the last
Destination Imagination. |

With
our current topics of interest ranging from Conspiracy
Theories and Crime Scene Investigations (C.S.I.) to Jury
Trials and Roller Coasters, there is no doubt that we will
stay busy. Please feel free to contact me with any
questions or concerns that you may have. |
