Wisconsin has made it very easy for individulas to register to vote. Potential voters can register to vote at the polling place, on the day of the election. Wisconsin is just one of three states that afford voters this luxury. The others include: Minnesota and Maine.
When you show up at the polls, if you have not already registered, you need to fill out a simple registration form. This should take just a couple of minutes. You need to provide information on your name, place of birth, address, social security number, gender, etc...
Once you complete this step, you then proceed to the registration table. Here, volunteers take your name and address. There are two books that have this information. One volunteer checks off the information in each book. This is done to safeguard against voting fraud. At this point, you will be given a voting number and ballot. You then are directed towards the voting booth. Here, you are able to cast your secret ballot, meaning nobody but you will know who you voted for. After you vote, generally there is more than one election contest on a ballot, you place the ballot in the automated voting maching which registers your vote.
That's it! A very simple procedure that generally only takes five minutes. |
