| September 25-30 The Call: September 25. So that we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to seize the hope set before us (Hebrews 6:13-20). In the early church, like today, those who came to the knowledge of Christ were filled with the Holy Spirit. Even in difficult times their faith in Christ held them together. In difficult times today our faith in Christ holds us together. Faithful God, help me to live in the hope of eternal life, promised in your word. Amen. September 26. Jesus said, Thus you will know them by their fruits (Matthew 7:15-20). Holy Spirit, help me to know the good fruits from the bad and to produce good fruits in my life. Amen. September 27. The master replied, No; for in gathering the weeds you would uproot the wheat along with them (Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43). Jesus was telling his disciples that he was sowing the good seeds and that he would not judge his children now but at the end of the age. He would not separate the children now and take the chance of destroying the good with the evil. Merciful God, let me hear your word of grace with full confidence in your love for me through Jesus. Amen. September 28. When David had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was bound to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own soul (1 Samuel 18:1, 3). Thank you, Spirit, for David and Jonathan, for Ruth and Naomi, for giving us examples of true love in the bible. September 29. Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die--- there will I be buried. May the Lord do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you! (Ruth 1:16-17). Bless our covenants, Covenant Maker, bless the love of women with women and men with men! September 30. If God will be with me of all that you give me I will surely give one tenth to you. (Genesis 28:20, 20). If gay men and lesbians practiced this concept of giving back to our community centers and organizations one-tenth of what they have achieved for us, they wouldnt have to sweat their budgets each year. If gay and lesbian Christians returned one-tenth of what their denominational support networks have achieved for them, these groups would have the resources to challenge the church in a big way. Lord, help us to support our gay and lesbian agencies and organizations. |
