p2. January 9-16 Epiphany:  Prayers
Jan 9. A PRAYER: One day with you, Good God, is better than a thousand days elsewhere. Draw me to your house, draw me to yourself, draw me to your people as I worship you this day. I trust and delight in you, for you hear my prayers and you answer me. Receive my praise. Bring me to your kingdom and justice, bring me to your light and grace-that I may dwell in your presence, both now and in the life to come. Amen.

Jan 10. A PRAYER: God of hope, have mercy upon me and increase my faith. Give me your vision for my life. Share with me your vision for your world. Bring me to the place, to the life, to the faith that is higher than this day and receive my life as an offering of thanksgiving. You are my God: I hope in you and you alone. Amen.

Jan 11. A PRAYER: Emmanuel, God with us, you healed the sick. You raised the dead. You cleansed the lepers. You cast out demons. You chose to hear the cries of your people. Hear now my cry for health. Hear now my cry for cleansing. Hear now my cry for life. Hear now my cry for deliverance. Hear now my cry for you. Hear and answer, Emmanuel, God with us. Amen.

Jan 12. A PRAYER: Blessed God, you bless the poor, you bless the hungry, you bless those who weep. Bring your church (the believers), even now, into the blessedness of your kingdom of righteousness. Prepare us to receive you and those you came to save, that in our ministries we might bless the poor, bless the hungry, and bless those who weep, in your merciful name. Amen.

Jan 13. A PRAYER: God of peace, we long for peace, we long for you. Put an end to our wars. Put an end to hatred and the evil acts that come with it. Put an end to sin that dwells within us. Fill us with your love. Fill us with your peace. Fill us with your Son, Jesus, so that we who live in his name might follow his call for our lives. Amen.

Jan 14. A PRAYER:  God, my helper, turn my eyes toward you. I am distracted by things in this world that will rot and decay. You alone are eternal. Turn my eyes toward you and restore my joy in life. Turn my heart toward you and restore my love for my neighbor. Turn my soul toward you and restore my faith in you. Give me your strength for life and your strength for death, for apart from you I cannot live. Amen.

Jan 15.  A MORNING PRAYER: Holy God, as you have opened my eyes to a new day of life, open my eyes to you this day. Prepare me for your presence in my life. Fulfill your purposes for my life. Make the everlasting stream of your steadfast love and justice flow through me. I lift my eyes to you and give you thanks with my whole heart, for you are the source of my life, the source of my salvation, the source of this new day. Amen.

Jan 16. AN EVENING PRAYER: God of my life. I find my rest in you. Shelter me under your wings as I sleep this night. Where I am faint-hearted, bring me strength. Where I have lost hope, bring me courage. Where I have sinned, grant me forgiveness. I hold fast to you as I close my eyes, confident that you who never slumber will restore me with your presence as I sleep. Amen.
