Chengazhasserry Mana

Namboothiris are a class of South Indian Brahmins and are from Kerala, a beautiful state in India. We adhere to the advaita philosophy propounded by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Indeed, Sri Adi Shankaracharya himself was born into namboothiri community. The Namboothiris are acknowledged as being among the foremost vedic scholars of India. In fact, among all the various Brahmin groups in India, it is only in the vedic chanting of the Namboothiris that one can find a relic of the PIE (Proto-Indo-European) language (in the form of some specific raised accent). Namboothiris usually call Mana or Illam for their home.

My Home (Illam / Mana) is known as Chengazhasserry Mana. It is originally at Thamarakkadu, a village near to Uzhavoor in Kottayam District of Kerala State. My father, Sri. Narayanan Namboothiri, moved from Thamarackadu to South Vazhakulam, near to Aluva in Ernakulam (Cochin) and settled there. My mother, Mrs. Aryadevi Antherjanam, was from Thalayettumpilly Mana, Kalady (Ernakulam). She left us in 1985 while I was a kid.

I am the youngest brother of Mrs. Valsala Krishnan, Rajeev and Sreekala Vasan. The eldest sister, Mrs. Valsala, is settled in Bangalore with her husband, Mr. Krishnan Namboothiri, and children, Sowmya and Yadu. Rajeev is settled in South Vazhakulam and he is a priest of a nearby temple. He is a good astrologer and an expert in agriculture too. His wife Shailaja and children Arya and Aswini make his family. Sreekala is settled in Kottayam with her husband, Vasan Namboothiri, and children, Arun, Anjaly and Arya.
