Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine tour
The first graders at Covenant School took their annual tour of the Exhibition Coal mine in Beckley WV on April 7, 2007.
Nice to get out of the cars
Here we are in the coal cars getting ready to go in the mines.  We're so excited!
Here is the entrance to the mine.  We're all anxious to see what's in store!
WOW!  It's so cold and creepy in here!
Here's George.  He was our coal miner guide for the day and he gave us our "Safey Meeting"  All arms and legs inside the ride boys and girls!
Some old coal mineing equipment
A coal car.
They had to hand drill the holes to put the explosives in with this breast plate auger.  Wow,, and for 20 cents a car.
This lamp is what the Fire Boss used to detect Methane Gas.
