| The first grade from Covenant School took their annual feild trip to the Slab Fork Coal Co. in Beckley WV to see the Exhibition Coal Mine. It was very exciting to ride the coal cars deep into the cold, wet mine! George was our tour guide and he was quite a character! He dazzled the kids by showing us how to light his old fashioned headlamp and showing us his false teeth that he kept in his water bucket to keep the donkey driver from stealing a drink! If your ever in the Beckley area, I definately think it's worth the price of admission to check this out! You won't be sorry! | |
