| Kayak Kachemak Bay | ||||||||||||
| Christophe here: Howdy, I am sitting here with a full belly in a happy home. Sorry for slacking off on this stroy, but I left for Kachemak Bay right after I got home from this past biking trip. Wow, achemak Bay was wonderful although that has to wait until later. The bike trip went well with seven boys and four girls. They were good kids that liked to have fun. We biked in from the Eklutna Lake Campground to the other end of the lake near an airstrip. It was nice biking in after we ttok care of all the random bike maintenance and packing issues. I liked feeling the speed of biking with the freedom of backpacking. The only draw back is that you see less scenery and more trail. It was nice to have spent two weeks in the same place so that the mountains had a more familiar feel to them. This mechanized traveling has a feeling that still resounds within my spirit. A feeling of distance and momentum that I do not feel while packing around. My knees felt a new challenge that was challenging yet not as crushing as carrying a sixty pound pack. I will remember the rush of the air on a sunny day. On the way out I carried the trailer with the group gear in it and Terra went out of her way to fill it with as much as womanly possible. I swear it had to been heavier than when she carried it. I think she was trying to test me. Anyway, I passed! Because I peddled all the way out and made it up and over all the hills without complaint. I am definately finding a new respect for Eklutna Lake beyond the campground!!! . This is Christophe signing off, be well and live fully. |
