| The Peacemaker Part 1 |
| Author: Reena Email: [email protected] Rating: uh, average, PG15 Liz was used to Michael not being much help on their partnered assignments. But today, he was particularly unhelpful. She figured it must have had something to do with what happened after he went off to find Maria. And probably rescue Kyle from her. She had accepted the fact long ago that her friends were kind of weird. Maria and Alex had been her best friends for practically forever. So, Maria's actions weren't too surprising. Nor were Kyle's. But Maria "helping" Tess out was too much. It could only lead to disaster. And Isabel was enjoying it unfold a little too much. And Max was acting weird. And now, Michael was in a mood. Well, Michael was always in some sort of mood. "So Michael, was Kyle with Maria at lunch?" "Huh? Oh, uh, yeah. He was acting like she's nothing to be afraid of. She hit him upside the head. That guy seriously has way too many screws loose." "Michael..." "Liz...I'm serious. He then proceeds to apologize to Tess for what he did wrong only to get himself in the dog house." "Oh no. How'd he do that?" Liz was already coming up with ways to keep Tess away from Maria and vice versa. "It's Valenti. How hard could it be?" "God. Do you realize what this means? I have to listen to Maria count off all the ways of the dog house to Tess. Work is so going to suck today." "Come on, Valenti deserves it. And, get this, he wants to turn the tables on Tess and put her on probation." "You did tell him that it doesn't work, right Michael..." "Uh huh." "Michael..." "I did. I told him she'll retaliate but he thinks it'll work. I'm gonna help him." "What?!" A Michael plan. Oh boy. Michael plans of this caliber usually ended up in disaster with a certain best friend of hers ranting and raving until midnight while violently attacking a defenseless carton of ice cream. "Cool your jets. I just told him I'd help him to shut him up. Otherwise he would have kept on talking and talking about it." "That's so mean." "Mean? No it's funny. And Maxwell and Alex actually think I'm going to help him. As if I haven't learned enough lessons from Maria. I could write an instruction manual on that girl." Yeah, it's called "Every Possible Way To Piss Off Your Girlfriend." "Sure you could..." "Okay, so it would contain a large section on screwing up, but I have learned things since I've been with the nutcase." "Nutcase?" "I mean it in the most affectionate way." "Of course you do." "At least I'm not all dopey like Maxwell just brooding over Valenti mentioning you in a bra." "Max wasn't brooding." "Uh, and where were you at lunch?" "At the table, listening to you guys dig yourself in deeper and deeper." "Then you weren't paying attention to Mopey all hot-and-bothered because Valenti said that bra comment that got Tess all postal on him." "Tess went postal on him because he was thinking of another girl when she was in a bra." "Oohh... Now I get it." Oohh...Now I get it? Oh, Michael-land. That's what Isabel and Maria call it. "I thought you said you wouldn't say anything that stupid." "I wouldn't. But now I get why Valenti doesn't get it and Tess put him in the dog house. Cuz he probably really screwed up the apology." "Because he couldn't figure out what he was apologizing for." "See, you chicks have all these weird things that make you go nutty. Then you bond together and we're left standing out in the cold. You could throw us a bone every now and then, you know?" Liz was a bit unnerved. It almost seemed as though Michael was admitting that he might need help sometimes. "Who are you and what have you done with Michael?" "What's that supposed to mean?" "You. You practically never admit that you've screwed up to Maria." "Because it's fun. She's cute when she's angry. And if you even tell her that..." "I won't say a word." "Hey, what's up with you girls and shopping? Maria was saying something about it and then I said something and the next thing you know...she's mad again." "You mean you're on probation again." "Whatever. So..." "Well, I know she wanted to take you to get some stuff for your kitchen, wallpaper or something because you were complaining about it...and not doing anything about it..." "Ohhh..." Yep, definitely Michael-land. Probably because he too busy giving Maria a hickey the size of Canada to actually pay attention to what she was saying. Liz was grateful, again, that she had Max as a boyfriend. "You completely ignored what she was saying, didn't you?" "Well..." "What did you say?" "Um, the wrong thing. Damn! No wonder she was all pissy about it. She muttered something about trying to help and I said shop-- Nevermind. I said the wrong thing." Liz decided that one friend's boyfriend in the dog house was enough. She was going to nip this situation in the bud. And she had to start with Michael. Because if Michael was back in Maria's good graces, she may abstain from "helping" Tess with Kyle. She silently prayed that this would work. "Flowers would be good." |
