"I said I don't do flowers." "Marin's Flowers and Boutique usually has the prettiest flowers." "I. Don't. Do. Flowers." "Listen up, Michael--" "Whoa! Little Lizzie has a temper?" "Yes, Liz Parker is actually capable of anger. And I'm so sick of this convoluted relationship stuff going on-" "That's because Max is what Maria calls 'functional.'" "Yeah, he is. But that's not the point. The point is I have to work with Maria tonight which means she'll be rattling all of your faults off tonight. And I have sixth period with Kyle which means he's gonna be talking about this, too. So please, please, please, do me a favor and just apologize to Maria. And don't let Kyle turn the tables on Tess. He'll fail. Miserably." "And that would be very funny." "Michael! Please?" "I can't believe I'm going to say this. Tigerlilies?" "Yeah. And, uh, get them delivered to work." "Delivered?" "Or you could bring them and watch her get mushy on you in front of a bunch of customers..." "Delivery is good." "Oh, and talk to Max about that moping thing. It's not a big deal. Kyle doesn't even like me at all in that way and, plus, even Alex has seen me in a bra..." "I haven't seen you in a bra..." "We could go to the girl's bathroom after class..." "What?!" "Kidding. I was kidding." Yes, Michael. Liz Parker also has a sense of humor. "You do realize that by me sending her flowers...I'm like becoming Max or Alex..." "And that's a bad thing?" "Yes. They're all sappy over you and Isabel." "Like you're not sappy over Maria." "No." "Sure." "I'm not." "Do you want me to remind of the time when she almost-" "Noooo! I like her. I'm not all sappy over her." "Whatever you say." "What's that supposed to mean?" "Figure it out." Not that he would. He was definitely most comfortable in that weird place called Michael-land. A land that was too scary to visit. At least she was satisfied. Maria wouldn't be ranting about Michael for too long, provided he sent the flowers. And maybe he'd talk to Max and get him over the bra issue. And if she was really lucky, he'd even dissuade Kyle to try and turn the tables on Tess. And then, just like others in her situation, Liz Parker groaned. There was no way that Michael was going to tell Kyle to not turn the tables on Tess. Which meant she'd have to listen to Tess and Maria plan revenge. And with her luck, she'd be sucked into their demented boy-torture vortex. Then she groaned again. Work was still going to suck. And sixth period was going to suck. * * * * * |
