We Stood on Holy Ground

Excerpts from the Pastoral Statement of His Eminence Jaime Cardinal Sin, Archbishop of Manila

How did the Second People Power came about? By the grace of God.

EDSA 2001 was preceded by the Great Jubilee 2000. A year of grace. It was our time of joy, a time of peace, a time to touch, a time to heal.

The EDSA Shrine is indeed holy ground. At Fatima and Lourdes, La Sallete and Rue du Bac, the glory of God was manifested in apparitions. At EDSA, the glory of God was shown by the people keeping vigil, praying together under the shadow of Mary, Queen of Peace towering aloft  the EDSA Shrine. EDSA is holy ground. God walked with his chosen people on that holy ground. When we gathered at the EDSA Shrine, the Lord's presence was so evident.

We stood on holy ground. Let us keep that ground holy and make sure that the generations succeeding us will always remember the goodness of God.

We must never give up thanking God for His goodness to the Filipino people.
