Naturizing Society for Improvement
Objectives: To improve our livelihoods and  society by emphasizing nature, limiting technology to sustainable and appropriate uses.

Naturizing comes in many forms, wheather it is buying organic foods, walking to work or the grocery store, carpooling, co-housing, organic gardening, planting trees, recycling, creating protected national parks, creating green belts, contributing to conservation projects, etc.  Naturizing is beneficial to the environment, to our health, and to society.   Everyone will have their own ideas about to what extent one should naturize.  I think most people will agree that they can do more to naturize.  If we look at a continuum that has nature at one end and technology at the other, then naturizing would be the process of moving away from the technology end and toward the nature end, limiting technology for sustainable, beneficial, and appropriate uses.   We all fit somewhere on the spectrum.   Most of us fit somewhere in the center.
Primitive people who have little contact with civilization would fit at the extreme nature end living close to nature, in harmony with nature.   Back to nature groups also fit at this extreme end since they shun technology as much as possible.  On the other hand, it is impossible to live at the extreme technological end since we are all dependent on mother nature for soil, water, plants, rain, and other natural resources.   So how close to nature should we get?  How far back to nature should we go?  How much should we be in harmony with nature?    This site will provide reports and links to help us answer these questions.

Theory behind Objective:  Since we are all natural beings from a natural world, we should not stray too far from nature, otherwise, our standard of living will decrease.

Examples:
Health:  Obesity, diabetes, and heart desease are partly the result of 1) un-natural foods,  2) an infrastructure that requires most people to have cars, and thus to walk less  3) television that encourages people to be sedentary, etc.
Environment:  Pollution is a result of  1) industries that produce technological products, 2) heavy vehicles that  transport the products to stores, 3) electricity that is required to run the products after they have been purchased, 4) air pollution, noise pollution, ground pollution that is produced by the products being used, 5) and ground pollution that is the result of  land fills to store the waste products from the products, and to discard the products when they are no longer of use.
Isolation:   Many people have become isolated from one another because society has become compartmentalized.  Much of the time we are either in the house, or in the car going somewhere.  In more natural societies, there is less isolation, because people walk when they need to go somewhere, and they see all the other people who are also walking to go somewhere.  Also, the people don't stay in the house so much.
Simpler life: The less we have the more simple our lives becomes in many respects.
Crime: Unban areas tend to have more crime than rural areas.
Depression: Very high in developed countries.
High inflation: Developed countries are more expensive.

Goals to meet objective:
This site is devoted to research, reports, and education on naturizing our lives and societies.  I am a self trained cultural anthropologist, have studied the cultures of over twenty different countries, and am continuing to study the cultures of many different countries.  I will be reporting my observations, adding information related to the effects of nature and technology on society, and creating links to other information on this subject on this webpage.   If you would like to join this group, volunteer, contribute, provide suggestions, information, or links , please email me at :
