I decided that I could offer a home to yet another Giant Schnauzer and contacted HT-Z Giant Schnauzer Rescue. Quicker than I believed possible, I was able to offer a home to 4-year, Brie. Brie came home with me to Las Cruces on July 29, 2006. She quickly adapted to her new surroundings and settled in to her new forever home. Brie blossomed in the next two years. She learned to get along with other dogs and to trust people. She was extremely athletic and mostly obedient. Brie's fondest wish was to catch a rabbit! Her wish came true more often that I liked. She loved playing in the hay barn and pouncing on mice. I never had to cut open a bale of hay for the horses anymore. She earned her Canine Good Citiizen certificate in Spring 2008. In May 2008, Brie had a baseball size fibrosarcoma removed. We fought the tumor for another 9 months before she succumbed on Feb. 9, 2009. She is sorely missed. She had two really good years of life but it wasn't enough.
On St. Patrick's Day (March 17, 2009), Zeus arrived from Claremore, OK were he had been rescued by a family that found his sister and him. HTZ Giannt Rescue assisted in vet care and in finding them new homes. I was told about Zeus who was lonely after his sister, Zoe, had been adopted. Zeus was a little over one year when he arrived here in Las Cruces. He is a smart, intelligent, willing, and affectionate young guy who has quickly adapted to his new home.I look forward to several years of his companionship.
