We do really make it with a well known brand of Irish stout and it really is good for your hair! It cleans it, it makes it soft and smooth and it makes your locks smell almost irresistible to anyone who has the slightest bit of Irishness in them. Fresh lemon juice makes your hair shiny and lemon oil is very good for keeping your scalp in top condition; they also add a lovely, light, fresh scent to our Cynthia. About the cognac oil, we did once ask the boss why he'd put it into the Cynthia Sylvia Stout Shampoo mix. He just reached over to the shelf, took the lid off the tiny cognac oil bottle and waved it under our noses. 'Mmmmmmm....!' we said. 'We understand now.' That's the bit that makes you irresistible to the French.
I Love Juicy Natural Shampoo
I Love Juicy is full of raw energy because it's made with our revolutionary, organic, enzymic kiwi, pineapple and papaya base. This has exceptionally deep cleansing powers and works sumptuously in hard water areas to give your hair a healthy shine. That's the fresh fruit bit; the jelly part of the shampoo comes from the carageenan seaweed which makes a soft gel to moisturise and soften, unlike other products for greasy hair. It smells fruitily of the above, plus mango, which is packed with vitamins and nutrients, and lemon and orange essential oils.
Daddyo Shampoo
Daddyo is a beautiful purple shampoo which Mark created for himself but is prepared to share with everyone else. Mark has a lovely head of grey hair but in some places grey hair starts to look yellow and it's usually the local water which is doing it. Blonde hair can take on a greenish tinge for the same reason. Daddyo's fresh lemons restore your colour and give your hair the shine it should have, organic coconut oil gives it strength and seaweed's minerals condition it. It smells of violets (Mark's favourite and coincidentally, Napoleon's favourite too). Go grey and be proud of it, Daddyo!
Coolaulin Hair Conditioner
The thing about Coolaulin that hits you first is its coconut smell. This is because (unlike some cosmetic companies we could mention but we won't) we use real coconuts to make it: the flesh and the milk from lovely fresh coconuts. (The reason why it's sometimes a different colour from your last bottle is that the coconuts come in different colours.) Anyway, the coconut decoction softens your hair very effectively as well as making it smell like a tropical holiday beach cocktail. We also mix fresh organic lemon juice in there to make your hair shine then we add vetivert, benzoin and styrax exotic essential oils for their calming properties and to make your hair smell even more delicious. Use this one on curly, dry or processed hair when it's feeling a bit rough.
American Cream Hair Conditioner
American Cream is our brand new double strength conditioner which still manages to have a light, calming, high shine, revitalising effect on your hair. It?s based on an American cocktail recipe and smells like a vanilla milk shake. Honey water reduces static to keep your hair calm; fresh, organic oranges and strawberries make it shine. There?s a touch of clary sage, benzoin and lavender fragrance which also helps to keep your scalp in shape. Your hair smells almost edible all day after a helping of American Cream; if you have long hair you?ll have to resist chewing it, but you won?t be able to resist stroking it!
Veganese Conditioner
Veganese is a lemon scented conditioner which is quite light in its approach to conditioning but really heavy on the shiny side with rosemary and lemon juice by the bucket-load. This means that that is can be used on all hair types. The very special thing about Veganese is that it is vegan (if that isn't self-evident from the name); all our products are vegetarian but the other conditioners contain lanolin, from sheered sheep's wool. (No sheep are hurt in this process but they might be a bit put out; how would you like it if someone shaved your hair off?) The point is that even if we joke about it we take our commitment to our vegan staff and customers seriously enough to have spent years working out how to get seaweed gel to work as an effective conditioner instead of lanolin. Recon Hair Treatment
It's time to tackle a problem Let's be honest. If you have a seriously manky scalp which itches and builds up layers of scaly skin then sheds it all over the place causing you bother, you need Recon. This is an outstanding rich scalp moisturiser and treatment with almond oil, beeswax and lanolin plus active nettle leaf, rosemary and peppermint to stop the microbes which cause the problem from continuing with their evil work. Fresh papaya's enzymic action cleans away dead skin cells and we add salicylic acid (which occurs naturally in willow trees) to help you get a healthy scalp again. We do keep going on about how it's best to use natural hair colours; we are also prepared to put our money where our collective mouth is and make really good natural hair colours so you don't have to go pouring chemicals all over your poor scalp. Chamomile is a wonderful herb, perfect for calming sore skin; it also happens to be a wonderful, natural hair lightener. Hence it is absolutely magnificent for putting in a hair moisturizer to make your hair go blonde. Not content with mere blondness, we give you softness, thanks to the linseed gel and Soya lecithin and shine, courtesy of the organic lemon juice.
HSuan Wen Hua Hair Treatment
H'Suan Wen Hua is the original Lush hair moisturizer (named after a Chinese god of hair) which everyone can use to nourish their barnets. As you see, it is made with lovely skin and hair softeners like fresh organic bananas and avocados plus fresh watercress because it's full of minerals and vitamins to help strengthen the hair and deal with brittleness. Olive oil and lanolin make it smooth, rosemary oil and balsamic vinegar make it shiny. H.Suan Wen Hua's ingredients list has been likened to salad dressing but please don't waste this on your food. Caca Noir Mama Hair Coloring Henna
Caca Noir is for dark hair. Black Henna gives a blue tint to your hair if the henna is allowed to air dry, rather than being wrapped up in Clingfilm which gives a redder hue. The cocoa butter helps the Lush Caca to stick to your hair which means that it gives a brighter shine than your average pure henna powder. Spicy clove bud oil is used in India for love potions. We use it to make your hair smell lovely.
