It would seem an unusal thing for one club in the same category to talk about another club, even recommend it. Most of us tend to be somewhat competitive and jealous of the number of members we can attract. However, neither Club Founders' Club nor The Official Club (TOC) are ordinary clubs. While I frequently address what makes CFC a little different on this web site and elsewhere, what makes TOC different has to do with who founded it and why.
The Official Club was founded on July 24, 2000 by clubsproducer (aka Warren). In his opening remarks, he stated that he was an employee of Yahoo! and responsible for the format of clubs. His purpose in creating the club was three-fold: 1) to discover generally what problems founders faced in using the current Yahoo! club product; 2) to develop a list of features we would like included in Yahoo! clubs; and 3) to present to us some notion of the expected developments to come with the merger of Yahoo! with eGroups expected to be finalized on August 31, 2000.
While some of us may feel that he misnamed the club--maybe, it should be called "the good, the bad, and the ugly" to accomodate both the club purpose and the behavior of many of its members--he has kept to his agenda, addressing the general queries of posters to his message board. We can be thankful that he has done so as it promises to bring us some of the changes on a variety of topics that have long troubled founders of Yahoo! clubs.
This presentation has been put together for the use of CFC members and those interested. We make no apologies for our obvious prejudice in favor of CFC.
