FOUNDERS PRIVILEGIES: Anyway, I
have a suggestion. Actually a couple, first of all my first concerns the
whole co-founder thing. I'm sure you've heard of it. I don't think giving
the co-founder equal power and immunity to deletion is a good idea.
Don't worry, we'll soon allow you to decide what the cofounder can and
cannot do. So if you don't want to give them power to delete your club,
you won't have to.
MEMBERSHIP LEVELS: We need a new user level... CO-FOUNDER for subsequent added
"Founders".
All the same functionality, EXCEPT they could NOT delete the clubs they
are CO-founders in AND they COULD be reset to a NORMAL member status
without quiting and re-joining the club.
If a FOUNDER quits the club, the FIRST and most SENIOR CO-FOUNDER would
move up to FOUNDER status.
Do some of you remember the old BBS days when you had a SYSOP and many
CO-SYSOP? It'd work much like that.
All part of the plan.
The second part is something we'll remedy.
The fact that there's only two levels of membership forces fouders to make
tough decisions about who to give Admin control to.
We will create more tiers of permissions, so it's not an all or nothing
gamble when you promote people to have admin privileges.
LEVEL OF PERMISSIONS: There should a facility for only the originating Founder to be able to
delete the club with the co-founders being given all the other powers
except that one.
I live in fear that someone might do the dirty sometime or be hacked.
A system whereby it needs the original founder and another founder to
delete a member and ban him may also be worthwhile.
There will be a better level of permissions, so you can let someone
edit and delete items in the club without letting them delete the entire
club itself.
Read here Valerie's proposal for a
new membership structure.
CLUBS MERGE: This is going to sound strange, but the possibility
of merging 2 clubs, so that they share the same amount of members, links,
and pictures.
This is a pretty difficult undertaking technically, and
the outcome wouldn't be that useful for 90% of Clubs users. I think we can
skip this one and use our resources for more far reaching feature
development.
