Topic: Member List.

Background: The ability to track our members--to celebrate when they joined us or to contact them when they leave--is something many of us work hard at trying to develop. Yahoo! just doesn't give us the tools to do this job efficiently and easily. Too, it is often difficult and unwieldy to use the Member List to locate a specific member or ID to write personally or delete. Club activity being what it is, we need some tools to help us keep track.

Please make sure you enter reference as "Member List / specific topic" in e-mail sent to [email protected].

MEMBER LIST

MEMBER LIST: (thanks for recent improvements) Ability to search for a certain member (especially to delete them). Ability to prevent certain IDs from joining or ban people who aren't currently members.

Yes, we want to allow you to ban people from your club if they aren't members by adding them to a banned list of some sort. The recent improvements are just a band-aid until we can incorporate either a search type functionality or a jump to members from A-Z like in address book.
Again, won't happen until the merge, so I wanted to at least put some sort of functionality into the Clubs product while we wait for all of the eGroups stuff to unfold.

ALPHABETICAL LIST: The members list should be easier to access and to search for names rather than have to scroll through all pages in order to find Xerxes!!lol. An alphabetical list split into letter sections might help.

Yes, I put in a stop gap fix for that... you can jump to a page to edit members. We will have a better method in place on the merged product. Either a member search, or what you suggested, an alphabetical jump page.

ALPHABETICAL ACCESS to the members lists (links like yahoo addy book).
This too is in the works. Although there is a problem with the alphabetical jump -- in huge clubs, there could be hundreds of "A"s for instance. Alphabetical sort would actually be less effective in this case than the current page jump ability. I guess the best choice would be to have both navigation options.

MEMBER ACTIVITY
: Some things I would like to have with members joining my club: an emailing telling me a new member has joined and -their email address- they are using for the club, so I can welcome them and explain how things work.

The stats area of your club tell you the IDs of those who joined currently. We're working on methods of integrating email alerts if a person chooses to receive them. Won't be phase one of the integration, but we'll have this. However we can't give you members' email addresses because this would violate our privacy policy. We can't give out personal email addresses -- if a person chooses to reveal it in their profile, you can find it that way.

JOIN DATE: The date they join next to their name in the member list, as well as the # member they are.

We could do this... probably won't be part of our initial work with the merged product, but this sounds feasible. Does anyone else find this info useful?

JOIN DATE: for members as Founders Feature only (Members or Calendar).
Not currently in the immediate merge planning, but we'll consider this for a future option.

LEAVING ALERT: I would also like an email if someone leaves the club.

Again, this will be part of the email alert system we're setting up.

LEAVING ALERT: Notice to founders only when a member quits by ID name so that you know which member quit.
Again, not currently in the immediate merge planning, but we'll consider this too.

LAST VISIT DATE: on a Member ID (founder feature only).
This would also have to be an option under future consideration
