Ultrasound Day!

April 7, 2000

It's a GIRL!

Of course, it's not 100% sure, but we have a close-up crotch shot, and you can see the 3 lines/hotdog bun looking thingie, so we're all pretty confident. Also, the doc wrote it down in my records that the ultrasound indicated a girl, so I guess that means he's pretty positive, too! So now we have one of each...everyone says we can stop now (having more kids), but there MIGHT be a chance I'll want a 3rd, but I SWEAR...not anytime soon...not soon at all! =) The baby looked good on the ultrasound, everything was normal...and of course, the baby was measuring 2 weeks smaller than my original due date. So according to the u/s, my due date would be Sept. 3, but we all know the baby will come when she's ready, and I am 95% sure she'll come sometime in August. The same thing happened with Cameron...even though we knew EXACTLY what day he was conceived, he measured 2 weeks smaller on the ultrasound...so this baby is following in her big brother's footsteps! If only her labor and delivery are easier...I'll be one happy momma! Strangely enough, my rubella titer came back questionable, which means they couldn't tell if I was immune to it or not, so they had to re-draw my blood. This doesn't make sense, since I had prenatal blood testing done both in Florida AND North Carolina when I was pregnant with my son, and it came back that I was immune to it. I asked them if it would change, and they said no, but they re-drew the blood anyways. They said if it comes back that I'm not immune, to stay away from kids who might have it (as if I'll know if a child has it or not at the beginning), and after the baby is born, to get a booster shot. WHATEVER! I'm not getting a shot for something that's even in my shot records that I have had all my boosters! Plus, I'm a big baby! HAHA! Other than that, my iron count was great...which is awesome, considering I don't take my iron pills...yuck! My blood pressure was 102/50, which is still great...didn't get the baby's heartrate...but I have gained 3 pounds since my last visit. Mind you, I had just eaten a breakfast sandwich AND had just drank a ton of water for my ultrasound, and even the nurse said I was probably 2 pounds heavier from that...hopefully she wasn't just tryin' to make me feel better, LOL! I am just trying to keep my weight gain under control this pregnancy...so since I have been going to this OB, I have a net gain of 2 lbs for this pregnancy! Not too bad for someone who's 21 weeks! (Or 19 weeks, depending who you ask!)
