Saturday 7th May 2005: CLOVELLY 3 - 3 SHEBBEAR
Clovelly ended the season unbeaten in their final three games finishing with a very commendable draw against Shebbear to whom they lost to 6-1 earlier in the season. Clovelly didn't start well as Shebbear attacked from the off and found themselves in front after Clovelly failed to clear their lines following a corner. However a super strike from distance from Darren Willcocks, his first of the season, saw Clovelly level. Their good work was undone soon afterwards following as a deflected cross which looped over Paul Taylor's head and was nodded in on the line to give Shebbear a 2-1 advantage. Willcocks evened things up again though right on the half time whistle as he slid the ball through a crowd of players from close range. Clovelly continued to battle hard in the second period and were unlucky to go 3-2 behind as the ball fell kindly for a Shebbear striker to poke the ball past Taylor and into the bottom corner of the net. While Shebbear swarmed forward looking for more goals they left themselves open at the back on several occasions and when Taylor's long kick evaded the Shebbear defenders, Jamie Robertson nipped in to cooly lob the 'keeper to make the score three apiece. It was no more than Clovelly deserved for all their hard work and after a long, hard season they can be proud of how they have finished the season. Special mentions must go to Paul Taylor for making a series of great saves to keep Clovelly in the game and to Mukti Mitchell for a tremendous performance in midfield.

Goals: Darren Willcocks (2), Jamie Robertson.

Team: Paul Taylor, Peter Slee (Nigel Symonds), Andy Goaman, James McGuire, Darren Willcocks, Robin Kearney, Richard Smith (Mitch Byron), Simon Shackson (Adam Barker), Mukti Mitchell, Kieren Vanstone, Jamie Robertson.

Subs: Mitch Byron, Sean Davis, Adam Barker, Nigel Symonds.

Sunday 1st May 2005: PILTON 2 - 2 CLOVELLY (at Clovelly)
Clovelly earned themselves a well deserved point against one of the league's better sides, Pilton. Clovelly had much the better of the first half and created many good chances, three of which fell to Trevor Tollervey who was denied twice by good saves from Pilton's young goalkeeper and once by the head of an opposition defender. The breakthrough came from a Darren Willcocks free kick which was met by a strong header from Matt Ross which the Pilton keeper was unable to prevent from crossing the line. The lead did not last long as Lee Saville was penalised for handling inside the box and Pilton were able to level from the spot. Just minutes later Pilton were in front as indecisive defending allowed a Pilton forward in to put the ball past Paul Taylor. Clovelly were level by half time though as a corner kick fell to Robin Kearney who finished from 6 yards for his 8th goal of the season. Pilton started the better in the second half but were unable to create any real chances. Clovelly did however finish the stronger. Jamie Robertson had two great chances to win it for Clovelly late on. An excellent passing move put him in for his first chance but his effort was a foot wide of the post and then the Pilton 'keeper made a good save as the ball fell to Robertson inside the 6 yard box. Trevor Tollervey saw his free kick pull wide of the near post with the last kick of the game after Robin Kearney's super run ended with him being tripped on the edge of the box. Richard Smith had a shout for a penalty moments earlier when he was chopped down on the edge of the box but the referee adjudged the foul to be just outside the area.

Goals: Matt Ross, Robin Kearney.

Team: Paul Taylor, Lee Saville, Andrew Cornish (Andy Goaman), Darren Willcocks, Robin Kearney, Trevor Tollervey, Matt Ross, Shaun Wilson (Richard Smith), Mukti Mitchell, Kieren Vanstone, Jamie Robertson.

Subs: James McGuire, Simon Shackson, Richard Smith, Andy Goaman.

Wednesday 27th April 2005 : PUTFORD 1 - 5 CLOVELLY
Clovelly looked strong from the start. The first chance fell to Ian Chan who squirmed a shot past the far post, next Robin Kearney had a shot from the edge of the box tipped past the post by the giant Putford 'keeper. Clovelly were quickly rewarded with the first goal when Kieren Vanstone ran up the right wing and saw his shot parryed to the far post where Kearney was there to finish. Clovelly then upped the tempo as Ian Chan ran through to score strongly at the near post. Paul Taylor had no real saves to make in the first half. Clovelly continued to dominate following the break. A through ball was dropped by the Putford 'keeper and Kearney looked certain to score but was brought down from behind by the 'keeper. Jamie Robertson was on hand to make it 3-0 from the penalty spot. A fourth goal soon followed as Robertson managed to poke home his second after challenging the goalkeeper. Putford did manage to pull one back with a counter attack finished with an excellent header which went in off the crossbar to the dismay of the outstanding Clovelly defence. But Clovelly had the final say as a Chan corner found it's way through to Kearney who smashed home from 14 yards. Clovelly could have been awarded another penalty after Kearney was brought down a second time but the referee saw nothing wrong. A couple of fantastic saves from Taylor capped off a superb all round team performance. - Report by Robin Kearney.

Goals: Robin Kearney (2), Ian Chan, Jamie Robertson (2, 1 pen).

Team: Paul Taylor, Lee Saville, Peter Slee, Andrew Cornish, Robin Kearney, Ian Chan, Matt Ross, Daniel Slee, Mukti Mitchell, Kieren Vanstone, Jamie Robertson.

Subs used: Sean Davis, Simon Shackson, Richard Smith.

Saturday 23rd April 2005 : SOUTH MOLTON 7 - 1 CLOVELLY
A poor performance from Clovelly but South Molton were helped out by the appearance of several first team players. Robin Kearney's goal was all Clovelly could conjure up.

Goal: Robin Kearney

Team: Darren Willcocks, Nigel Symonds, Andy Goaman, Lee Seville, Richard Smith, Robin Kearney, Mukti Mitchell, Trevor Tollervey, Simon Shackson, Peter Slee, Kieren Vanstone.

Sub used: Sean Davis.

Saturday 16th April 2005 : LOVACOTT 3 - 2 CLOVELLY (at Clovelly)
Lovacott inflicted a third straight league defeat on Clovelly with a narrow 3-2 win in a fixture which was switched to Clovelly. Clovelly had the better of the opening 20 minutes and could have gone in front on a number of occasions, the best chance fell to Colin Harris who headed over from close range. It was Lovacott who took the lead against the run of play following a bad throw out from Darren Willcocks but Ian Chan finished well to pull Clovelly level soon after. No sooner had Chan equalised Clovelly found themselves behind again due to some poor defending and it got worse as Lovacott increased their lead through an unchallenged header. A cross shot from Kieren Vanstone hit the far post just before the break but Lovacott finished the half on top. There were fewer chances in the second half at both ends. The Lovacott 'keeper pulled off a great save from an Ian Chan free kick destined for the top corner and Darren Willcocks saved well from a free kick after he picked up a mis-cued clearance adjudged to be a back-pass. Jamie Robertson did pull a goal back from close range but Clovelly were unable to find an equalising goal.

Goals: Ian Chan, Jamie Robertson.

Team: Darren Willcocks, Lee Seville, Andy Goaman (Andrew Cornish), Sean Davis (James McGuire), Richard Smith, Robin Kearney, Colin Harris, Richard Prust (Jamie Robertson), Ian Chan, Kieren Vanstone, Jimmy Grant.

Subs: Jamie Robertson, James McGuire, Andrew Cornish, Adam Barker.

Sunday 10th April 2005 : CLOVELLY 1 - 3 CHITTLEHAMPTON
It was almost a re-run of Saturday's defeat to Putford as Clovelly went down to their second 3-1 defeat in 24 hours despite again leading 1-0. It was Robin Kearney's header from Daniel Slee's corner that put Clovelly in front but that was as good as it got for the home side. A mis-cued clearence from Darren Willcocks allowed Chittlehampton to equalise and Trevor Tollervey was penalised for handling inside the box which meant Chittle' went in front from the spot. A soft third goal confirmed the defeat which leaves Clovelly one place off the bottom of Division Two.

Goal: Robin Kearney.

Team: Darren Willcocks, Lee Seville, Matt Ross, Sean Davis, James McGuire, Robin Kearney, Mukti Mitchell, Trevor Tollervey, Sean Trigell, Kieren Vanstone, Daniel Slee.

Subs used: Jimmy Grant, Shaun Wilson, Richard Prust.

Saturday 9th April 2005 : CLOVELLY 1 - 3 PUTFORD
Clovelly went down 3-1 to Putford despite an encouraging first half. Clovelly lead through Trevor Tollervey's sixth goal of the season but defensive indecision meant Putford were level soon after. Putford managed to hit the target twice more in the second half to make the game safe. It was a poorer second half performance from the home side in which not enough chances were created and another chance to pull away from the bottom two of the division was missed.

Goal: Trevor Tollervey.

Team: Darren Willcocks, Richard Smith, Colin Harris, Richard Prust, Lee Seville, Andy Goaman, Shaun Wilson, Shawn Joy, Jimmy Grant, Trevor Tollervey, Kieren Vanstone.

Subs used: Sean Davis, James McGuire, Mukti Mitchell.

Saturday 2nd April 2005 : CLOVELLY 4 - 2 LOVACOTT
Three points at long last! It has been a long time coming but Clovelly's first win in 14 has lifted them off the bottom of Division Two. Clovelly didn't start well, and found themselves two goals down after just 15 minutes. The first was a header from a corner when it seemed Damien Braund had been impeded and the second followed soon after when a Lovacott striker finished well past the advancing Braund. This seemed to spark a bit of fight from Clovelly. Kieren Vanstone missed a great chance when he cut inside and dragged his shot wide but Robin Kearney did pull one back with a good finish from 12 yards. Kearney himself was fouled just inside the box five minutes before the break which allowed Vanstone to level the scores from the penalty spot. Clovelly improved their performance further in the second half as they pressed forward but Damien Braund was called upon to make a series of good saves at the other end. Robin Kearney found some space down the left side and played a great ball in to Jimmy Grant who put Clovelly in front with the coolest of cool finishes. Kieren Vanstone then secured the win with a good strike on his unfavoured left foot. Clovelly much desevered the win and now leap-frog South Molton and Lynton at the foot of Division Two.

Goals: Robin Kearney, Kieren Vanstone (2, 1 pen), Jimmy Grant.

Team: Damien Braund, Richard Smith, Andy Goaman (Sean Davis), Lee Seville, Shaun Wilson, Shawn Joy, Simon Shackson (Adam Barker) (Mukti Mitchell), Robin Kearney, Jimmy Grant, Trevor Tollervey, Kieren Vanstone.

Subs: Mukti Mitchell, Andrew Cornish, Adam Barker, Sean Davis.

Saturday 26th March 2005 : CLOVELLY 2 - 3 SOUTH MOLTON
Despite a poor showing Clovelly should still have taken all three points against fellow strugglers South Molton and now fill the bottom spot in Division Two. Clovelly really should have been out of sight by half time but instead found themselves a goal down. Jimmy Grant and Kieren Vanstone were both guilty of missing multiple good chances to give Clovelly the lead and it was a mistake from Peter Slee that let South Molton in at the other end. Kieren Vanstone found the net at the start of the second half to pull Clovelly level but Molton came right back with two goals in quick succession for a 3-1 lead. A smart finish from Trevor Tollervey pulled the score back to 3-2 and Robin Kearney missed a glorious chance to equalise in the final minute when his shot rebounded back off the crossbar. Still there can be no excuses for Clovelly who now prop up Division Two after a performance that simply wasn't good enough.

Goals: Kieren Vanstone, Trevor Tollervey.

Team: Matt Pennington, James McGuire, Peter Slee (Richard Smith), Darren Willcocks, Lee Seville (Trevor Tollervey), Shawn Joy, Shaun Wilson, Robin Kearney, Jimmy Grant (Jamie Robertson), Daniel Slee, Kieren Vanstone.

Subs: Mukti Mitchell, Jamie Robertson, Adam Barker, Trevor Tollervey, Richard Smith.

Saturday 19th March 2005 : LANDKEY 2 - 0 CLOVELLY
Two goals in the final five minutes robbed Clovelly of a point they more than deserved against league leaders Landkey. Clovelly had the better of a first half of few clear cut chances and looked much more solid in defence than in recent weeks. In the second half Landkey created only a couple of chances which were well saved by stand-in goalkeeper Trevor Tollervey, one of which struck him square in the face! Clovelly had two excellent chances to take the lead as Kieren Vanstone attacked down the left wing, cut inside only to see his shot pushed onto the crossbar by the Landkey 'keeper. Jimmy Grant also had a great chance in front of goal but was unable to hit the target. Just as it seemed Clovelly would take a valuable point, a lapse in concentration at the back allowed a Landkey striker in to give them the lead. Only moments later Andrew Goaman was adjudged to have brought a Landkey player down in the box and the resulting penalty was tucked away to give Landkey a highly flattering 2-0 win. Clovelly can take heart though from a hard working and disciplined performance from which they deserved much better.

Team: Trevor Tollervey, James McGuire, Peter Slee (Bradley Randen), Andy Goaman, Lee Seville, Shawn Joy (Mukti Mitchell), Shaun Wilson, Robin Kearney (Adam Barker), Jimmy Grant, Jamie Robertson, Kieren Vanstone.

Subs: Mukti Mitchell, Bradley Randen, Adam Barker.

Saturday 12th March 2005 : LYNTON 3 - 2 CLOVELLY
Lynton won the basement battle with a last minute strike to increase Clovelly's poor league record to twelve straight defeats. Clovelly started badly and were on the back-foot for most of the first half. It was Andrew Cornish's unfortunate own goal which gave Lynton the lead inside 10 minutes but for the rest of the half Clovelly limited Lynton to shots from outside of the area. The closest Clovelly came in the first half was a strike from Daniel Slee which just beat the crossbar after being played in by his father Peter. The introduction of Richard Hancock at half time seemed to help Clovelly as did the arrival of Kieren Vanstone. Daniel Slee's good work down the right wing allowed him to cross for Vanstone to head in Clovelly's equaliser. Clovelly failed to clear their lines at the back soon afterwards and a Lynton striker was presented with a open goal from which he profited. Richard Hancock surged into the Lynton box only to be brought down with 20 minutes to go. Jamie Robertson found the net from the penalty spot to level things up once again. But just as it seemed Clovelly would emerge with a point, a mistake from Andy Goaman allowed a Lynton striker in to secure all three points for the home side who now leap-frog Clovelly at the foot of the table.

Goals: Kieren Vanstone, Jamie Robertson (pen).

Team: Darren Willcocks, Andrew Cornish, Nigel Symonds, Shaun Wilson, James McGuire (Richard Hancock), Andy Goaman, Adam Barker (Ian Dagger), Jimmy Grant, Peter Slee (Kieren Vanstone), Daniel Slee, Jamie Robertson.

Subs: Richard Hancock, Ian Dagger, Kieren Vanstone, Simon Shackson.

Sunday 28th February 2005 : CLOVELLY 1 - 4 PILTON
Clovelly put forward a good first half performance matching title contenders Pilton and were unfortunate to find themselves 2-1 down at the break. Two defensive mix-ups gifted Pilton their first half goals while in between them Clovelly fashioned the goal of the game as Steve Flood and Matt Flisher, returning from injury, linked up well to provide Jimmy Grant with a chance which he calmly tucked away. Peter Slee's angled strike almost put Clovelly on level terms right on half time but it just beat the crossbar. Clovelly started well again in the second half but their three second half substitutions seemed to unsettle them and Pilton took full advantage. A well taken volley from close range following another Clovelly mix-up gave Pilton a two goal advantage and as Clovelly faded in the late stages Pilton found the net a fourth time to make it 4-1, a score which didn't really reflect this game.

Goal: Jimmy Grant.

Team: Darren Willcocks, Andrew Cornish (James McGuire), Nigel Symonds (Kieren Vanstone), Lee Seville, Andy Goaman, Peter Slee, Colin Harris, Jimmy Grant, Robin Kearney (Adam Barker), Steve Flood, Matt Flisher.

Subs: Jamie Robertson, Sean Davis, Adam Barker, Kieren Vanstone, James McGuire.

Saturday 19th February 2005 : CLOVELLY 3 - 4 SPORTING BARUM
Despite a terrible start Clovelly were very unlucky not to emerge from this fixture with a share of the points after fighting back from 4-1 down. Things started to go wrong even before kick off when Chris Mawer suffered a dislocated finger in the warm-up which meant Darren Willcocks had to replace him in goal. To make matters worse Sporting Barum were in front inside twenty seconds through a low shot which wrong-footed Willcocks after Barum walked through Clovelly's midfield with ease. Clovelly were level after 20 mins after a neat passing move finished with James McGuire finishing from 12 yards for his third goal of the season. A defensive slip from Nigel Symonds allowed a Barum striker in to fire them back in front, followed shortly after by a third which was deflected past Willcocks from the edge of the box. Barum made it four early in second half through a free header from a corner which seemed to put the game beyond Clovelly. In fact the fourth goal sparked a Clovelly fight back beginning with a goal for Steve Flood on his return from injury after getting a head to a Jimmy Grant corner. From this point on it was all Clovelly as Barum were forced into defensive mode. Jimmy Grant was pushed over in the box with 10 mins remaining which allowed Adam Barker to pull the score back to 3-4 from the penalty spot. Clovelly continued to pile on more pressure looking for an equaliser and came close from a floating free kick which just evaded everyone's head and an indirect free kick which Barker blasted straight at the 'keeper. Unfortunately the equalising goal didn't come but it was a much more encouraging second half performance from Clovelly. There were also debuts for Lee Seville and Andy Goaman who recently joined from Hartland.

Goals: James McGuire, Steve Flood, Adam Barker (pen).

Team: Darren Willcocks, Andrew Cornish, Nigel Symonds, Lee Seville, Andy Goaman, James McGuire (Kieren Vanstone), Peter Slee, Jimmy Grant, Robin Kearney, Steve Flood (Adam Barker), Jamie Robertson (Simon Shackson).

Subs: Simon Shackson, Sean Davis, Adam Barker, Kieren Vanstone.

Saturday 5th February 2005 : HIGH BICKINGTON 5 - 0 CLOVELLY
It's nine straight league defeats for Clovelly now and there was no sign of things changing at High Bickington. Clovelly did have the first clear chance of the game but Adam Barker's shot shaved the outside of the post when he really should have scored. Unfortunately it was as close as Clovelly came as High Bickington raced into a three goal lead before half time. The second half was only slightly better. Robin Kearney saw his lob just beat the crossbar and Kieren Vanstone had a couple of efforts just off target. High Bick' forced home two more goals which perhaps slightly flattered them but they were deserved winners none-the-less.

Team: Chris Mawer, Peter Slee, Andrew Cornish, James McGuire, Ian Dagger (Sean Davis), Jimmy Grant (Mitch Byron), Kieren Vanstone, Robin Kearney, Nigel Symonds (Sean Wilson), Adam Barker, Jamie Robertson.

Subs: Shaun Wilson, Sean Davis, Mitch Byron.

Saturday 29th January 2005 : CLOVELLY 1 - 11 BUCKLAND BREWER
Peter Slee was forced to make six changes to the side that lost narrowly at Putford and it showed as Clovelly were hammered by Buckland Brewer. Clovelly have still not been able to solve the goalkeeping problem as Kieren Vanstone became the seventh man to try his hand in goal this season! Clovelly trailed 3-1 at half time but fell apart in the second half as Buckland Brewer ran riot.

Goal: Own Goal

Team: Kieren Vanstone, Peter Slee, Andrew Cornish, Sean Davis, Ian Dagger, Jimmy Grant, Aaron Vanstone, Simon Shackson, Shaun Wilson, Robin Kearney, Jamie Robertson.

Subs used: Mitch Byron

Saturday 15th January 2005 : PUTFORD 5 - 4 CLOVELLY (Bideford Tool Cup)
Goals from Jamie Robertson (2), Matt Hewis and Robin Kearney were not enough to prevent Clovelly's Bideford Tool Cup exit at Putford. Clovelly trailed 3-0 early on but fought their way back to 3-2 through a Jamie Robertson penalty and a goal from Matt Hewis. Putford regained their two goal advantage right on half time from the spot after Kieren Vanstone brought down a Putford striker. It looked as though the game was beyond Clovelly after Putford made it five in the second half but goals from Robin Kearney and a second for Robertson pulled it back to 5-4. Putford managed to hang on however to make it through to the second round.

Goals: Jamie Robertson, Robin Kearney, Matt Hewis.

Team: Darren Willcocks, Peter Slee, James McGuire, Shaun Wilson, Jimmy Grant, Kieren Vanstone, Lee Kay, Matt Hewis, Richard Smith, Robin Kearney, Jamie Robertson.

Subs used: Ian Dagger.

Saturday 18th December 2004 : HARTLAND 12 - 0 CLOVELLY
"The worst performance I have ever seen from us" said manager Peter Slee at half time of Clovelly's game with Hartland, and he was right. Clovelly were three goals down inside 15 minutes thanks to an own goal and two penalties and things just kept getting worse. Hartland had hit eight by half time and Clovelly were forced to play the second half with Trevor Tollervey in goal. There was a slight improvement in performance but Hartland forced in four further goals to confirm Clovelly's humiliation. The pitch was poor and weather conditions were awful but there should be no excuses for such a weak performance from Clovelly and they will have to find a great deal more fight from within themselves as they face Shebbear on January 3rd.

Team: Sean Alger (Trevor Tollervey), Peter Slee, Andrew Cornish, Shaun Wilson, Matt Hewis, Kieren Vanstone, Robin Kearney, Jimmy Grant (James McGuire), Ian Dagger (Aaron Vanstone), Jamie Robertson, Daniel Slee.

Subs: Trevor Tollervey, James McGuire, Richard Smith, Adam Barker, Aaron Vanstone.

Sunday 12th December 2004 : CLOVELLY 0 - 10 SHAMWICKSHIRE RESERVES
It was always going to be a hard task as Clovelly took on Senior Divison leaders Shamwickshire Reserves in the Braunton Cup. It didn't get any easier as Sean Trigell, Shaun Wilson and Malcolm Snelling all left the field with injuries before half time! Trevor Tollervey took on the job of keeping goal in the second half with Shamwickshire already 5-0 up. Things got worse for Clovelly as Richard Smith received a straight red card for a crunching tackle and Adam Barker was unable to continue leaving Clovelly with nine men. It was not the best way to prepare for the return derby with Hartland next Saturday in the league.

Team: Malcolm Snelling (Trevor Tollervey), Shaun Wilson (Simon Shackson), Richard Smith, James McGuire, Mukti Mitchell, Kieren Vanstone, Jimmy Grant, Matt Hewis, Sean Trigell (Aaron Vanstone), Jamie Robertson, Adam Barker.

Subs: Simon Shackson, Trevor Tollervey, Aaron Vanstone.

Saturday 11th December 2004 : TORRINGTON 4 - 3 CLOVELLY
After appearing to have the match won Clovelly pressed the self-destruct button with five minutes remaining in Torrington. Torrington led 1-0 at half time but an excellent passing move ended with Jamie Robertson finishing well for his first Clovelly goal. His second soon followed after the impressive Shaun Wilson was brought down in the box. Robertson dispatched the penalty to make it 2-1. Torrie equalised moments later with a well taken goal but good work from Daniel Slee provided an easy chance for Robertson to complete his hat-trick. Clovelly seemed comfortable until the last five minutes where Torrington found the net twice to send Clovelly home with a sickening feeling in their stomach.

Goals: Jamie Robertson (3, 1 pen)

Team: Sean Alger, Andrew Cornish, Richard Smith, Shaun Wilson, Nigel Symonds, Ian Dagger, Robin Kearney (Mukti Mitchell), Jimmy Grant, Aaron Vanstone (Adam Barker), Jamie Robertson, Daniel Slee.

Subs: Adam Barker, Mukti Mitchell, Simon Shackson.

Saturday 4th December 2004 : CLOVELLY 0 - 2 HARTLAND
Clovelly put in a battling performance in the local derby with Hartland and were unfortunate to go down to two fortuitous strikes. The first was a deflected shot which trickled past a wrong footed Malcolm Snelling. The second came mid-way through the second half as Snelling was unable to grasp the ball on the edge of the area which allowed the Hartland striker to roll the ball into an empty net. Clovelly never gave up though and came close through Daniel Slee on a couple of occasions who was always a threat with the ball at his feet. The Clovelly defence was much more organised than in previous games, aided by hard work from Kieren Vanstone and Robin Kearney on the wings. Clovelly will hope for better luck in the return fixture in two weeks time.

Team: Malcolm Snelling, Andrew Cornish, Richard Smith, Shaun Wilson, Adam Barker (Charlie Harding), Nigel Symonds (Mukti Mitchell), Robin Kearney, Kieren Vanstone, Jimmy Grant, Trevor Tollervey (Jamie Robertson), Daniel Slee.

Subs: Jamie Robinson, Charlie Harding, Mukti Mitchell.

Saturday 27th November 2004 : SHEBBEAR 6 - 1 CLOVELLY
Clovelly fell to their fifth successive defeat at Shebbear due to a disappointing all-round performance. Clovelly rarely threatened on an extremely difficult pitch and Shebbear took advantage finding success with the long ball through the middle. A controversial penalty award for Shebbear's fifth summed up Clovelly's afternoon. Malcolm Snelling had an improved performance in goal making some good saves and the new young strike force of Daniel Slee and debutant Jamie Robertson gave plenty of effort up front. James McGuire scored Clovelly's consolation late on with a neat finish. A much better performance will be required next week as Clovelly host high flying local rivals Hartland.

Goal: James McGuire

Team: Malcolm Snelling, James McGuire, Peter Slee, Andrew Cornish, Shaun Wilson, Adam Barker (Simon Shackson), Trevor Tollervey (Mukti Mitchell), Jimmy Grant, Charlie Harding, Jamie Robertson, Daniel Slee.

Subs: Mukti Mitchell, Simon Shackson.

Sunday 14th November 2004 : HIGH BICKINGTON 4 - 1 CLOVELLY (Cup)
Three first half strikes ended Clovelly's hopes of a good run in the cup at High Bickington. The Clovelly defence was split three times by the long ball on a bad pitch which did not suit Clovelly's passing style. Clovelly rarely threatened in the first half with only a Richard Hancock shot to show for their efforts. Robin Kearney did manage to pull a goal back in the second half after being put through by Sean Trigell but High Bickington regained their three goal advantage shortly after to ensure their place in the next round.

Goal: Robin Kearney.

Team: Matt Allin, James McGuire, Richard Smith, Shaun Wilson, Kieren Vanstone, Jimmy Grant, Robin Kearney, Sean Trigell, Simon Shackson, Richard Hancock, Adam Barker (Mukti Mitchell).

Subs: Mukti Mitchell, Peter Slee.

Saturday 13th November 2004 : TORRIDGESIDE 4 - 0 CLOVELLY
Although a big improvement on the last meeting with Torridgeside, Clovelly did not make a big enough impact on the Torridge' defence despite having more of the play in the second half. Torridgeside took the lead after the unfortunate Matt Allin lost a high ball in the sun and two more strikes before half time gave Clovelly a giant task to overcome in the second half. Clovelly did come close through strikes from Daniel Slee, Darren Willcocks and Jimmy Grant but a goal in the final minute from Torridgeside gave the scoreline a slightly flattering look. Matt Allin made some good saves in both periods to keep Clovelly in the game but it was not to be their day.

Team: Matt Allin, James McGuire, Peter Slee, Andrew Cornish, Shaun Wilson, Jimmy Grant, Trevor Tollervey, Darren Willcocks, Aaron Vanstone (Kieren Vanstone), Daniel Slee, Charlie Harding (Adam Barker).

Subs: Adam Barker, Kieren Vanstone, Richard Smith, Simon Shackson.

Saturday 6th November 2004 : CLOVELLY 2 - 4 GROSVENOR
Clovelly were very unfortunate not to emerge with at least a draw after outplaying Grosvenor in the second half with some flowing football. Grosvenor took the lead from close range after Clovelly failed to clear a corner early on but Adam Barker equalised from the penalty spot after a Grosvenor defender was penalised for handling in the box. Grosvenor regained the lead from another corner before being awarded a very generous penalty kick from which they took a slightly flattering 3-1 lead into the break. Clovelly put in a battling second half performance where the only blemish was a mix-up at the back allowed Grosvenor a fourth goal against the run of play. Clovelly managed to pull a goal back as Jimmy Grant nodded down a Matt Hewis cross for Marten Stanbury to finish smartly. At this point it was all one way traffic and Clovelly could have had a second penalty awarded when a seemingly obvious handball went unnoticed by the referee. Trevor Tollervey also missed an excellent chance towards the end but Clovelly should take heart from an all-round much improved performance.

Goals: Adam Barker (pen), Marten Stanbury.

Team: Charlie Harding, Shaun Wilson, Peter Slee, Andrew Cornish, Darren Willcocks (Aaron Vanstone), Shawn Joy (Daniel Slee), Jimmy Grant, Marten Stanbury, Robin Kearney, Matt Hewis, Adam Barker (Trevor Tollervey).

Subs: Aaron Vanstone, Daniel Slee, Trevor Tollervey, Kieren Vanstone, James McGuire.

Saturday 30th October 2004 : CLOVELLY 0 - 8 TORRIDGESIDE
Peter Slee was forced to make seven changes to the side that beat High Bickington a fortnight previous due to prior commitments and Torridgeside took full advantage. Clovelly were limited to only a handful of chances as Torridgeside bossed the midfield which allowed their quick forwards many chances. Jamie Shakespeare came closest with a cross-shot which was smothered by the Torridge 'keeper. Matt Pennington filled in on the left side of midfield and put in a good performance as did Andrew Cornish at the back. Trevor Tollervey and Adam Barker also had chances to get Clovelly on the score sheet in the second half which were not taken. Simon Shackson added some bite to Clovelly's attack when he entered the fray in the last 20 minutes but in fairness Torridgeside deserved their big win.

Team: Malcolm Snelling, Shaun Davis, Peter Slee, Andrew Cornish, Charlie Harding (Matt Pennington), Shaun Wilson, Trevor Tollervey, Richard Smith (Aaron Vanstone), Jimmy Grant, Jamie Shakespeare (Simon Shackson), Adam Barker.

Subs: Aaron Vanstone, Simon Shackson, Matt Pennington.

Saturday 16th October 2004 : CLOVELLY 3 - 1 HIGH BICKINGTON
Clovelly made it three games unbeaten after coming back from a goal down to beat High Bickington 3-1. Despite having the better start Clovelly found themselves one-down before the break as a 20 yard strike slipped through Malcolm Snelling's hands to give High Bick' the lead. In the second half High Bickington were on the back foot as Clovelly searched for an equaliser which finally came from Trevor Tollervey to keep up his recent scoring form. Peter Slee's inspired substitution, bringing on Matt Hewis for Shawn Joy, paid off as Hewis forced in two more goals to give Clovelly a much deserved win.

Goals: Trevor Tollervey, Matt Hewis (2).

Team: Malcolm Snelling, Shaun Wilson, James McGuire, Andrew Cornish, Darren Willcocks (Robin Kearney), Simon Shackson (Kieren Vanstone), Jimmy Grant, Shawn Joy (Matt Hewis), Rob Ousley, Jamie Shakespeare, Trevor Tollervey.

Subs: Mukti Mitchell, Kieren Vanstone, Robin Kearney, Matt Hewis, Adam Barker.

Saturday 9th October 2004 : CLOVELLY 3 - 3 TORRINGTON
In strong winds Clovelly managed to fight back from 3-1 down to secure a point, but it could have been so much better. With the wind behind them in the first half Clovelly failed to take full advantage and only managed the one goal as Richard Prust headed home from a Simon Shackson corner. Adam Barker wasted a hat-full of chances which could have seen Clovelly in at half time with a secure advantage. However Torrington turned the game on it's head in the second half and scored three goals with the wind advantage. Clovelly managed to salvage a point with goals from Jamie Shakespeare and Trevor Tollervey, his third in two outings.

Saturday 2nd October 2004 : CHITTLEHAMPTON 2 - 2 CLOVELLY
Clovelly came from behind twice in a exciting encounter with Chittlehampton to earn a well deserved point. A unfortunate slip from James McGuire allowed Chittle' to take the lead mid-way through the first half but Trevor Tollervey stole in at the far post to equalise with the last kick of the first half. Poor marking from a corner enabled Chittle' to take the lead again with a far post header but Tollervey forced home his second from a Matt Hewis cross to level things up. Chittlehampton could have taken all three points but for a last minute save from Malcolm Snelling when it seemed the Chittle' striker must score.

Saturday 25th September 2004 : GROSVENOR 3 - 1 CLOVELLY
Three goals in the last 15 minutes denied Clovelly an upset win at Grosvenor. A rare James McGuire strike gave Clovelly the advantage at half time but Grosvenor came on strong in the second half. For a while it seemed that Clovelly may hold out to the end but the equaliser came with just 15 minutes left to play. Two more goals soon followed as to secure the three points for Grosvenor.

Saturday 18th September 2004 : CLOVELLY 3 - 1 LYNTON
Clovelly managed to secure their first three points of the season from Lynton but the team from the bottom spot did not make things easy for the home side. Lynton lead at the break after a break-away goal but Clovelly should have at least been on level terms after failing to convert several good chances. It was a different story in the second half as Russell Johns equalised with a shot from 20 yards. Daniel Slee put Clovelly in front after rounding the Lynton goalkeeper and finishing from a tight angle before Kieren Vanstone finished from close-range to complete a 3-1 victory.

Goals: Russell Johns, Daniel Slee, Kieren Vanstone.

Team: Matt Pennington, Peter Slee, Kieren Vanstone, Andrew Cornish, James McGuire, Simon Shackson, Adam Barker, Russell Johns, Aaron Vanstone, Daniel Slee, Jimmy Grant.

Tuesday 7th September 2004 : BUCKLAND BREWER 4 - 1 CLOVELLY
Some poor defending in the first half cost Clovelly dearly as they trailed three goals to nil at the break on a difficult pitch at Buckland Brewer. Buckland Brewer's first goal came direct from a corner, the second was a defensive error which let in Tony Grills and the third was a header direct from a corner. Darren Willcocks missed a penalty late in the first half when his strike rebounded off the post. A fourth goal for Brewer followed at the beginning of the second period after a corner was not dealt with. A Matt Hewis header was all Clovelly could conjure up in response.

Goal: Matt Hewis.

Team: Matt Allin, Peter Slee, Sean Davis, Kieren Vanstone, Jamie Shakespeare, Richard Smith, Darren Willcocks, Robin Kearney, Jimmy Grant, Adam Barker, Matt Hewis.

Subs used: Daniel Slee, James McGuire, Carlos Chaudhari.

Subs not used: Aaron Vanstone, Mukti Mitchell.

Saturday 28th August 2004 : SPORTING BARUM 2 - 1 CLOVELLY
Clovelly were unfortunate not to come away from Sporting Barum with at least a share of the points after two strikes towards the end of the second half gave Barum victory. An excellent Richard Hancock lob gave Clovelly the lead at the beginning of the second half who were on top of the game at this point. Hancock left the field shortly after his goal due to a head injury and Clovelly were suddenly on the defensive. Barum survived a late Clovelly onslaught to hang on for the win.

Goal: Richard Hancock.

Team: Matt Pennington, Peter Slee, Sean Davis, Andrew Cornish, Richard Smith, Jimmy Grant, Jamie Shakespeare, Simon Shackson, Darren Willcocks, Adam Barker, Richard Hancock.

Subs used: J. Smith, Kieren Vanstone, Daniel Slee.

Saturday 21st August 2004 : CLOVELLY 1 - 6 LANDKEY
Clovelly received a rude welcome to Division Two as Landkey ran away with a deserved 6-1 victory. Simon Shackson's header was the only consolation for the home side who failed to make much of an impact on their visitors.

Goal: Simon Shackson.

Team: Matt Pennington, Peter Slee, Andrew Cornish, Sean Davis, Richard Prust, Chris Ivory, Russell Johns, Darren Willcocks, Jimmy Grant, Richard Hancock, Trevor Tollervey.

Subs used: Aaron Vanstone, Simon Shackson, J. Cook.
