Seasons Fire seasons very everywhere, and change constantly, depending on the weather. The greatest rule of thumb is, if its raining, there probably won't be any major fires. For a fire to start it must be warm and dry. Wind conditions can make the fire danger higher, because wind accelerates the movement of fires. In Washington, the fire season starts in June and runs till September. Observe the following maps. June - only the dry, warmer areas of Eastern Washington are in moderate danger.
July - all of Washington is in a significant fire danger region.
August - the danger of fires drops slightly, but it is still there.
September - fire danger continues on through this month, but drops sharply in November, with the coming of the rains.
