Date: Wed, 14 January 2009 11:40 WesternIndonesiaTime Subject: Landslide At The Toll-Road To Bandung
Yesterday, 13 January 2009, a landslide happened in the toll road to Bandung. Some part of a mountainous land collapse to the toll road, causing traffic jam up to ten kilometers away. According to the Jakarta Post, it is estimated that 1,000 cubic meters of debris covered the main highway linking Bandung with Jakarta. The landslide happened at about 11:30 in the morning at Kilometer 114+800 in Bojong Kiara area in Tagog Apu, West Bandung regency. It took more than 100 workers of state toll-road operator PT Jasa Marga to clean it up. There were no fatalities but hundreds of vehicles from Jakarta heading to Bandung could not move for about one hour until PT Jasa Marga could open one lane. Traffic speed still remained low, at about five kilometers per hour, with two-way traffic sharing one lane. The debris, about 2.5 meters deep, 12 meters wide and 40 meters long, was finally cleared at 7:15 in the evening. What made me wrote this was that it happened at about 11.30 in the morning, around the time I was browsing the Internet to search for the logo of my senior high school SMAN 3 and found a website of someone name Atiek. She graduated from the same school with me, except that she is younger, she gradutated at year 1983. Her name Atiek reminds me with my senior high school friend Atiek who with some other friends made a trip to Bandung at 3 August 2005 with me. We started from Jakarta in the morning, spent some time in Bandung until the evening, and went back to Jakarta. When going from Jakarta to Bandung, I was in the car of my friend Sydney, a Honda Stream. On the way back to Jakarta, I rode a VW Caravelle of my friend Atiek. A few days later at the end of Aughust 2005 hurricane Katrina struck the US on category 4, causing the city of New Orleans to drowned, making some people saved their lives by going to the attics of their homes. Yesterday’s landslide that happened around the time of my visiting a website of someone name Atiek became like another reminder for me, that my going down like the landslide going down to the toll road, will have the tendency of causing disaster, therefore I should stick with my consent to move up to the eternal life, to the heaven above. And it happened at kilometer 114 of the toll road, became like a reminder of my having to get married soon, no longer a "14" or "single Firman".
