The space shuttle Endeavour lifts off from its launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida,

August 8, 2007. A NASA investigation found no evidence that drunken astronauts boarded spacecraft or jets, the U.S. space agency's lead safety officer said on Wednesday.

In this photo obtained from NASA, the US space shuttle Endeavour is seen from the International Space Station as the shuttle does a rendezvous pitch maneuver on 10 August 2007, while it approaches the station to dock for seven days of joint operations with the station. NASA on Sunday began analyzing a gash in the Endeavour's heat shield before deciding if it needs repair, and said it was adding three days to the shuttle mission to continue work on the International Space Station.

NASA got a closer look on Sunday at a small, but deep gouge in the belly of the space shuttle Endeavour and said it had not decided whether it needed a repair to ensure the ship's safe return to Earth.
