Subject:  Wayang Banowati, A Painting Descendant of Wayang Borobudur

Wayang Borobudur

91  x  133  cm

acrylic on canvas

2004

When this painting was being worked, there were some photos about George Bush 41 birthday, whereas he was jumping with parachute that seemed to have a connection with this painting, like in the following photos.

Painting design of "Wayang Banowati" ( the real painting is not yet photographed ).

At the size of  73  x  100 cm, this painting is smaller than the painting of  Wayang Borobudur on the left.

Since the basic idea came from the Wayang Borobudur painting, this one is like the "descendant" of the Wayang Borobudur painting.

The above painting of Wayang Borobudur ( left ) was like obtaining responses from former president George HW Bush, because when this painting was being worked, there were some photos about George HW Bush'  80th birthday. Whereas during the event of his birthday, he was jumping with parachute, and the parachute has the shape like the Borobudur at the background of this painting. In another photo, he was wearing gold coat like resembled to the color of the wayang in this painting, with the position of his hands also like resembled to the wayang.

When later on I began to work the new painting about wayang Banowati, like the above right, actually I was not thinking of connecting it with Jenna Bush. Yet since it was smaller, and after all it was based on the wayang Borobudur painting, and I also happened to work another painting about Jenna Bush facing to the left, so it is inevitably looks like the "descendant" of the previous wayang Borobudur painting.

Subject:  Paris On RR Phantom, Move Ahead Not Backward

The above letter about painting analogy of one painting as the "descendant" of another painting, would make no much controversy beside the mere artistic alternative of appreciating an art work.

The problem surfaced when I began to work the painting of Paris Hilton in a Rolls Royce Phantom. Due to limited space in my bedroom, I placed some paintings on top of the others in the wall, with the position like the above picture. When the Paris Hilton painting finished, it became like the Rolls Royce was driven over the wayang Banowati. But then again, I thought it was only a matter of placing the paintings due to limited space, no more than that.

Only after Ndut died when the black Blazer ran over it, then I began to think that there could be some other interpretation for this placement of paintings. It could be interpreted as a sign that the wayang Banowati would also have the same destiny like Ndut, getting ran over by a car. And since the wayang Banowati, and also Ndut, are like representing Jenna Bush, it could be interpreted that Jenna would also get the same destiny.

So the important thing her is to analyze, what was happening when Ndut died. The car at that moment was moving backward, because the driver was parking it before he needed to get down from the car to close the gate, and then he would get back to the car and left the house.

This could has the meaning that whenever Paris agrees to escort me to the eternity by allowing me to go with her in the same car, like in this painting, then it should be a point of no return for me, it should be a moving ahead not backward.
