Painting design of Paris Hilton inside a car with me, the work began in August 22, 2006, to commemorate the August 31, 1997 car accident of Lady Diana in Paris.

 

Today, August 31 a few years ago in 1997, Lady Diana had a car accident in Paris that took her life away.

It happened after I wrote several letters and made some paintings about her since 1995.  Because her name sounds like "die", I was thinking that maybe I could meet the end of my life by writing her and making some paintings about her.

Like I wrote in my previous letter Lady Di's Interview After My "Siti Incident", it all began in 1995, followed by my first letter to her after she appeared with a pose like resembled to my painting "Approaching the  Die, Frog", a painting about an Indonesian actress Maudy whose name sounds like the word "maut" which means "death". I have also explained about this in the opening of my letters to Paris Hilton at "Paris Bridge to Heaven".

In 1996 when I was in the middle of making another painting about her, the "D", a postman came to my place extending a reply from Lady Diana's office, with the words "her love" inside it. It was concurrence to the heart symbol I made on the frame behind her in that painting. Then it was also followed by her appearance in the media holding a flower similar to her hand in the painting.

Just one month later, on August 1996, she was receiving the formal divorce from prince Charles, known as "Decree Absolute". It became like a heavy responsibility for me to follow up such divorce by writing her a letter with the word "would you marry me" on November 1996. Yet I realized after all I was not on the same level with her, she used to ride luxurious cars and limo, while I used to ride simple and cheap public transportation vehicles.

So on April 1997, I wrote her about my idea to "sacrifice" her by asking her to become the wife of Indonesian president who was just becoming a widower after his wife died in 1996.

On August 8, 1997, in the morning I was searching for a newspaper Kompas, because my parent was not subscribing it, only buying once and a while. Yet no one of it was found in the nearby peddler of newspaper, and only after I went to a nearby supermarket Hero that I found one, just one left, the others has been bought by other buyers. It made me wonder what news was there that people bought the newspaper. It appeared to be the official news about Lady Di having a new boy friend Doddy Alfayed.    

A few days later on August 31, 1997, she had a car accident along with Doddy Al Fayed. It made me feel guilty, if just I was the one who was with her in the car that day, I would be fulfilling my consent of my writing to her, to meet the end of my life ............

 

It all inspired me to produce a new painting, started on August 22, 2006, about Paris Hilton in a car with me, and a driver. This is to symbolize my second chance, if there could be, to be in the car that would take my life away.

If in August 31,1997, there was four people in the car, three of them died and one survived, then in this new painting I hope it would be three people in the car and only one, myself, who fulfill my consent to meet the end of my life.
