SOH of Iraklion General Info | Additional info about mountainsports in Crete


The local branch of the Greek Alpine Club (SOHI) was founded in Iraklion in 1977. Today it has many members and many friends. The SOH of Iraklion is a member of the EOOS The Federation of Greek Alpine Clubs (EO��, �������� ���������� ����������� ��������).

The club maintain and hold the keys of the Prinos mountain hut, which is situated at the eastern lower range of Mount Idi (Psiloritis), at a walking distance of two hours from the village of Assites.

Every weekend the club take hiking excursions to the most breath taking landscapes of Crete and/or to its sourrounding islands . The skiing, childrens' camping, rock climbing, trekking, and parapente departments, have extra activities.

The club's address is: Greek Alpine Club, 53 Dikeosynis Ave., GR:71201, Iraklion. The office is on the 3rd floor, and everyone is welcomed 20:30-22:30 weekdays. Their telephone number is 227609.
