Jade wanted very much to tell someone about her feelings but she knew Gabriel wouldn't understand it. As she gazed into Gabriel's concerned blue eyes, she felt a tug at her heart but she ignored it. "You won't understand it. It....it's just a girl thing." She replied, wishing she could explain clearly. Hurt shown in his eyes as Jade obviously didn't trust him enough to confide in him. Why did i even bother? She's a witch. I bet there's nothing she can't do. He thought angrily. But he soon found out that he couldn't stay angry at her for long.
His eyes fell upon her thin delicate arms and they were shaking. It was a cold night and Jade only had on a sleeveless tee. Without any thinking, he took off his warrior top and offered it to Jade," Don't make yourself freeze." She took it gratefully and asked," what about you?" "I'm a guy remember? I won't die." He walked off to the edge of the space, thinking.
Wrapping the top around her shoulders, Jade was deep in thoughts when the Queen sat down beside her. "My child, why do you look so unhappy?" the Queen asked in a motherly voice. "I don't know. Its about Julia and Ted. I hate to see her hurt. And i really wish i've known more about Ted but i never saw him around in school. (After a thought) Like Gabriel. I just have this terrible feeling that Julia might be hurt badly if she's not careful." Jade explained, her eyes filling with tears.
The Queen put her arm around Jade and said matter-of-factly," Jade, It's heartwarming to see that you care so much about your best friend. Ted's not from your school. He's from a college, naturally you didn't see him anywhere in your school. But Gabriel's different. I know it and you know it. You know what does the name 'Gabriel' means?" Jade shook her head and waited for the Queen to continue.
"It means a knight. A hero with honour. And Gabriel's a man with honour and duty. He's a good man. You don't have to fear him, you know." Jade opened her mouth to protest, but the Queen waved her protest away as she added, " About Julia, you can advise her, try to talk sense into her but ultimately the best teacher for her'll be experience. Let her choose her own way and let experience teach her the true lesson in life. I know this doesn't help much. Truly as a friend, you've done what you can and you can help her by being there for her when she needs it. " Jade thanked her as The Queen turned to leave.
Julia was having the time of her life, dancing and laughing with Ted. She was falling hard for this guy who she just knew. Her mind knew that it was wrong to fall for a guy she didn't know much, but her heart was saying different things. As long as she liked him, it didn't matter. Suddenly Ted grinned mischievously at her and without warning carried her in his arms and dipped her to the ground before lowering her to the ground. She poked him playfully and giggled, "what were you trying to do?" "Demonstrating those tango moves i know," His eyes twinkled and he grabbed her waist and started to sway to the music with her. Her heart was bursting with happiness as she let herself absorbed into the music and dance.
As time passed, they danced gradually closer to each other. Ted had changed his dance moves to one of the disco dances and was moving his hands over her waist, her back and her butt. She just responded by putting her arms around his neck and they swayed to the music.
Finally after four hours, they were all exhuasted from the dancing. The Queen then handed the scroll to Jade and sent them on their way home. They barely got the energy to make to the car before they fell into a slumber in the car.
