| Surprise, surprise... After a chilly autumn tour in 2000, my loved-one gave a final thumbs-down to the pillion comfort on the back of our faithfull Trident. |
Cleanstream's trap |

| So I kept an eye open, mainly toward the upcoming 2001 105HP
Tiger. I'd had a go on a new Tiger in 1999 at Motor Mercuur's Triumph days and had a great time. We visited local bikeshops but unfortunately (for the T7 Tiger) she consided that Tiger far too ugly en too small for comfort. The looks of a nearby 'old' Tiger in Pimento Red did catch her attention however. And it sure seemed to present more backroom. |

Merely a week later I was in at Motor Mercuur, for some repairs on the Trident, and I
stumbled on this 'old' Tiger. A 1998 model in... (oh yeah!) British Racing Green. After some research I found out that in the final year Triumph had put on all the goodies that Tiger owners normally carry out themselves (braided brakehose, heavy duty springs) so it should be a good package. The Tiger was already fitted with a Givi rack and shop owner Tom threw in a 3 box set and a backrest to conclude the value part. |
So a a testride was made to find out if the desired comfort held
on for more than a sit in the showroom. Well... this ride concluded the affair soon
enough. A lot more room, legs included, for both of us. Firmer support and a far more
stable feeling (even in that Dutch autumn weather!) on the backseat.BUT... the real
point is: the Tiger IS really a lotta lotta fun to ride! So... Now I'm a convert, a Big Traily Adept, a Tiger Tamer! |
