| Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. Currently there is no cure and the average life expectancy of a CF patient is about 30 years. This disease affects approximately 30,000 children and adults in the U.S. It is the most common fatal genetic disorder, affecting about one in 3,000 live births. A person with CF must keep the thick mucous in their lungs loosened so that they can cough it out. This is done by various types of therapy.
